Hi,
I'm after some advice regarding trampolines. My son is desperate for one. We have a fairy average sized patio garden with landscaped flower beds.
I don't want a large trampoline to spoil the view of the beds behind and I think they look ugly from our kitchen windows.
So thought I might get one dug down into the ground. Has anyone else done this with success or knows a builder who can help me?

It completely depends on what's under the top soil in your garden

A friend simply dug a hole in his garden - he did it himself and had no problems

However when we tried to do the same our builder hit a big layer of concrete - we would have had to hire a mini digger to get it cleared at vast expense so we decided that it was fine being semi-sunk!! We planted some bushes all around it an it's nothing like as intrusive as I'd feared

Because it was lower than normal we decided to see how the children would go without a net. They've always been much more sensible while on it as they don't all pile on and throw themselves against the sides

We love our in ground trampoline and friends with children who have come round liked it so much they have done the same. Especially with toddlers it makes it so easy as they don't bounce high and don't have to help them on and off.
You can either buy a specially made in ground trampoline (in which case hole doesn't have to be as big) or sink a normal one.
Things to be aware of are drainage issues and venting (so when kids bounce the displaced air has somewhere to go). With the in ground trampolines there are vents in the mats round the edge.
We bought ours from capital play who were very helpful and have a great showroom in Surrey where you can go and try out lots of trampolines.
They offer an installation service which I would have used if we hadn't had builders on site already who dug our hole and there were comprehensive instructions plus Capital Play said to call them if they had any Q's.

We recently had an in ground trampoline supplied and installed by http://www.sunkentrampoline.com they did a fanatic job (seamless install) with no gaps at all around the edges of the trampoline. They also used a trampoline with lille safety nets that protect little feet from being able to get picked by the spring - this was a must in our case as our little ones are "very Little"

I really can't recommend them enough, they were also the most competitive quote we had by far!
