Dear NappyValleyNetters,
Latest edition of the Queenstown Police Update
==========================================
Dear all,
Apologies for the delay in this festive edition of the Queenstown Police Update. I have been heavily abstracted away from Battersea over the last week, even having some of my rest days cancelled so I have been catching up on my day job!
Despite me being away, the team have been out and about during the week, more on that later.
We had a number of crimes last week, only one of note which was a robbery that took place outside Wenham House on Ascalon Street at about 8pm on Tuesday the 15th of December. This investigation is still ongoing but if you saw or heard anything, please contact Wandsworth CID on 101 quoting reference 0327238/15 or you can phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Today I have closed two ongoing anti social behaviour problems, both relating to the Doddington estate, one in relation to drugs use and the other in relation to anti social vehicle use. We have taken a number of preventative actions over the last few months, including encouraging people to report anti social behaviour as well working with partner agencies to solve both problems. We have received no complaints about either problem in the last 48 days. This doesn’t mean that our patrols are going away, they will not, and I would continue to encourage residents to report anti social behaviour to us using either the 999 or 101 systems in the first instance.
PC Bruce met with the Savona Estate Resident’s Association and Wandsworth Borough Council Housing on Tuesday to finalise the details around an anti social behaviour campaign that we’ll be launching there soon.
Bruce and PC Xander attended the Battersea Power Station forum on Monday night. This was a general update on the current status of the Nine Elms Development. We are working closely with the development team around matters of crime and policing.
PC Atti arrested an individual who turned up at the police station last week who was wanted by us for actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
PC Charla arrested an individual for a domestic abuse allegation after she and PC Joe conducted enquiries to locate them.
In wider news, Wandsworth Borough Commander Richard Smith issued his latest update, erm, last month. I cannot remember whether I sent you all the link in a previous update, so here it is again!
The National Police Chiefs Council (the successor organisation to the Association of Chief Police Officers) has issued a four minute film called Stay Safe: Firearms and Weapons Attack. The advice has been issued in response to recent world events and highlights “Run, Hide, Tell” as three key steps for keeping safe in the event of such an attack.
In the run up to Christmas, the Met is stepping up its activity to locate and arrest a handful of individuals who are wanted for burglary. You can view the names and gallery of individuals here. Please do let us know if you have information as to their whereabouts.
You may be aware that there was a fatal police shooting in Haringey on the 11th of December. You can read our latest updates here, and here.
I will now not be in until the 6th of January (I decided to take the time off after working night duty on Christmas Day and Boxing Day away from my family last year!) and these updates will resume in the New Year. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Saturnalia, Festivus or will simply be spending the next few days with friends and family, I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the team here at Lavender Hill Police Station, to send you all the Season’s Greetings and to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Regards,
Nathan
