Nanny rate per hour

Postby abcdefg » Mon Feb 01, 2016 3:09 pm

I have found a super duper nanny (she seems completely fab) who is currently being paid £12 hour net. She wants 45 hours per week (fine) but this ends up being nearly £37k when tax is on top. I was wondering if this seems to be an exceptional level of pay or am I just being naive in that this is what a 'proper' nanny would cost? If so we are happy to pay, but just wanted to check. Thank you for reading!

Hi there,
I pay mine £11/ hour net. But I think £12 is a reasonable ask, especially if she is qualified. Ultimately you want peace of mind that you have the right person, and that this person will not leave in a few months' time because she is unhappy with the financial terms or cannot afford to pay her rent on your salary.
An additional £45/ week isn't much in the grand scheme of things. So my advice, if you are really keen on her, is just to go for it!

£10 to £11 net per hour is more like it

Do you want 45 hours a week?

Thank you for your helpful replies. 45 hour per week is fine - I have quite an unusual situation so can be flexible - but I can only presume she's been given a good pay rise (or two) before to take her up to £12 per hour. It makes me think families want to keep her which is a good thing.

Thanks again, your replies have been very helpful
