Another Tesco on Garrat Lane. How disappointing! Post Reply

Since we have moved to Earlsfield I think the worst of living here is the groceries shopping options. Unless you have a car and drive down to Tooting or up to Wandsworth, you can only shop at the sainsburys express by the station or if you live around Burntwood Lane there's also the Tesco express at the roundabout. That was about it.... I always hoped they would open a little waitrose in between, or something like whole foods...
Then I saw they were opening a new shop just to the other side of the station... and today I saw it's another Tesco Express. How gutted I was!
That's why I came here to share my disappointment!

I have been in a couple of times already and I find the choice of stock very good. Let's hope they keep it up because the other 2 Tesco on Garratt lane are appalling!
Like Melicone I would have preferred a Waitrose / M&S or even a Lidl /Aldi to have a bit of different choice from Sainsburys ...BUT...I am really glad that at least is not another Estate Agent!

Don't forget the truly dreadful convenience store this Tesco replaced...

I went in their about three years ago to buy a newspaper early one Sunday morning to find both assistants drunk (I hope from partying the night before and not slugging it back at 8am on a Sunday!).

The convenience store that closed (Macenzies???) a few doors along had friendly enough staff but the place was very pokey and grubby.

Sainsbury's has really sorted out these old-fashioned "mini-supermarkets" and I,for one, am not nostalgic about them at all - they were hardly the "Olde Village Shoppee"

I agree that Waitrose has mixed a trick here -this is prime Waitroseland after all but I celebrate the fact that the Earlsfield "High-Street" is a lot cleaner and less down-market than it once was....estate agents notwithstanding ...The rebuilt Tara Arts Theatre is outstanding!!!

Agree that Waitrose has missed a trick there, wouldn't have minded that or even better an M&S. there's a Tesco opposite the Brocklebank GP and a one at Summerstown towards Tooting.
However having lived in Earlsfield all my life it's a vast improvement on the old convienince store, so bad no wonder it closed.
But hey these are all first world problems right?!
