wasn't aware they made such things public...? or committed to in print...? Sorry, not helpful but couldn't resist after they suckered my family in with their pitch and then got shirty when we didn't "want" to pay £1200 for the photos...

They do give you a price list after your session. Unfortunately I threw mine away after placing an order and now - as far as I can tell - what I got was not what I ordered... Now I cannot get another copy of the price list from Venture so was hoping someone here might have one, considering that they were NappyValley's Face of NappyValley competition partners...

Gosh do they really charge that much?

I had some amazing photos taken of my daughter at Julia Boggio in Merton Abbey Mills and the ones we bought, including a large framed canvas, didn't come to nearly that much.

I can't recommend her enough. The photos are truly fantastic and they made the whole experience great fun for the children.

Steer well clear of Venture.... I was harrassed at my gym by them and to get the woman to leave me alone, I said I would think about it and gave my phone number. They must have called me over 20 times at all times of day and night. When I continued to say I wasn't interested, they were having none of it and continued to call... be warned!

Hello,

I'd also recommend Julia Boggio. I've also done a session at venture (because we had a free session from the nappy valley net competition) but I preferred the JB experience - both are pretty salesy experiences (as you'd imagine) but the pictures and importantly the quality of the frames are amazing at JB studios. We weren't all that impressed with the frames provided at Venture and although the photos were pretty good, I felt that it was all a little bit more contrived than with Julia.

However, make sure you've got deep pockets..... neither place is cheap (though I do think if you're looking to spend less then JB have some alternatives that work whereas Venture didn't)

How ridiculous that they will not give you a current price list. In short, they are dishonest. This sort of conduct makes me very cross. I'm sure there are lots of business owners like myself on NVN and we would not get away with such aggressive tactics or woolly pricing. Even if a quote is bespoke, the prices can still be transparent.

I have never used them but had a quick look at their website. If their photos are as stunning as they claim then surely no need for that pushiness.

If the photos you received are not what you ordered then I would demand that under the Trade Descriptions Act of 1968, they provide you with what they had promised. No where in their Terms and Conditions does it state that any purchase is compulsory. If you paid with a credit card, then the credit card company should act on your behalf to reclaim the money if you feel you have been incorrectly charged. (I did this with Avis cars who charged for renting cars in New Zealand and Australia during the same set of dates- obviously impossible!)

I had my children photographed for a straightforward £90 and no hard sell on the prints at all. In fact I thought the photographer was a little modest! Anyway, the photos were lovely and I ordered a few, again reasonably priced. (www.rebeccacutting.com) I would imagine that this is how all reputable photographers operate.

I would be tempted to call them everyday until they give you the price list, not because I am grumpy and have nothing better to do (!) but because it is disgraceful business practise.

The photos are lovely but their tactics are a different matter and their prices indeed are far too high. If anyone does have their prices I'd like to know what it says about the USB stick

Those of you that haven't been Ventured, keep well clear...

Looked high and low but must have thrown it out.

From memory, I thought the USB stick was around £860 for 10 photos?

I am shocked! A USB stick costs approx £5 (more from a retail shop) but surely they would bulk buy online. So over £80 per photo to be able to keep them - wow!

If you are looking for a photographer check out my husband's website:
http://www.neilcoxphotography.co.uk/

He is based in Earlsfield, has set prices and will work at your home or at a location of your choice at the weekend (which tends to lead to a more natural and relaxed look, especially for children).

Many thanks for looking AbbeVilleMummy and to everyone for their comments and recommendations.

I think I may have settled with Venture - I will update you once I have the final 'fixed' product.

Hi, Just wanted to second the opinions here. Received a gift voucher. We were told that with the gift voucher, we would receive the photos on a non-printable CD format and 1 photo printed and we would need to pay for the rest. When we said not that we were not prepared to pay 800 or so they were asking for the blown up photos, and just wanted the gift voucher package, they said that we would have to pay for the CD/USB. I did not even bother arguing, being already quite irritated with their sales tactics till that point. They've said that they will send the one print in 2 months (who takes 2 months to print!) - though I doubt we will see anything from them. Feel bad for the people who gave this to us as a gift, otherwise would have asked them what they were told when buying the voucher.

Did the voucher you received not state what you would get for it or how much it is worth? I would ask the people you got the voucher from - would be a shame if they paid in excess of £600 for it and all you got was a free photo. It took us 6 weeks to get our order and I think the freebies take a while longer...
