Yes! An extremely odd question perhaps to ask.

I have lived in Bolingbroke Common for the past 20 years and absolutely love the area.

I had a child very late (43) and thought I lived in "nappy valley", but now I have a child, I wonder if it isn't "parent valley"?

What exact is child friendly about it? Of course, I see that all the restaurants allow children and all the bars - especially All Bar One, which they should rename All Creche One.

But are we not kidding ourselves? Nappy Valley is for adults, who don't want to change their lifestyle (fair enough - I am a City worker!). Whoever coined the term Nappy Valley was in denial or named it a very very long time ago.

I don't think the term "Nappy Valley" was applied to this neighbourhood because it is/was an exceptionally child friendly place. I just think people started calling it Nappy Valley because a lot of young families were moving in. It is about quantity not quality, I think.

Agreed, all about the availability of suitable housing & schools compared to immediately north of the river. The price surge pushed many of those who would have settled in Fulham etc here south of the river.

'Nappy Valley' isn't referring to the area as being child friendly - at some point (v early ish noughties I think but not going to spend the evening checking back!) research was done re birth rates across varying areas - it was said at the time that the square mile around Northcote Rd had the highest birthrate in Europe, hence the coining of the name 'nappy valley'.

I think it's a good place for kids given:
- the wide choice of schools
- the wide choice of children classes/activities right on your door step
- the fact that there are so many children makes it easy to organise playdates
- the 2 commons nearby
