Exposed brick wall

Postby claphamama » Tue Jul 12, 2016 1:01 pm

Hi, we are doing a feature wall of exposed bricks in our new extension and struggling to source the right bricks! As we have big glass windows we would like to make sure that it matches the exterior wall as closely as possible (so London yellow!). Can anybody recommend any supplier please? Thank you!

Hiya -- I used brickslips rather than actual bricks - they are cheaper and easier to put up. Essentially they are "tiles" made of actual bricks that have been cut into 2-3cm slithers - gives the effect of a exposed brick wall.

Have a look at http://www.brickslips.net

That's where we got ours and they will send you samples for a modest postal fee. They also sell the mortar grout and spacers. My builder now recommends and uses them for his clients.

I used London Yellow and the wall looks great (was going to try and upload a pic but couldn't find one handy - there are lots on the website).

Hope that helps.

xx

We used brick slips too on the inside of an old fireplace - but the ones we used were flexible acrylic brickslips (http://www.ewistore.co.uk), basically cause they are lightweight.

I was a bit sceptical about how they would look, but we got them to send us a sample and they are actually perfect. Really happy with the finished look!
