Completely agree with the staff comment! There is one particular woman that's usually at the door that is always rude especially on the phone. We go all the time and I keep thinking it will change, unfortunately its so close to where we live and the kids love it. We go to Gambado's in Chelsea on weekends as it is a drive, the food there is much worse then IAKT. The owner is absolutely lovely and she does make such an effort, she even makes the gorgeous cakes, but yes some of the staff is less then stellar!

I agree that the food selection is rubbish and overpriced, I know who you are talking about on the door and she does come
across as a bit rude but she is quite stressed and overworked as she does most of the work. I actually find the Owner incredibly rude.

Gosh hope Fatherof6 doesn't read this or we'll all be in trouble! *chortle*

We go to Eddie Catz and the staff are mostly lovely. One woman was stroppy with me the other week and I have a feeling she was the manager, but on the whole they're very good.

The food is over-priced, but the cakes are good :-)

Wow guys ... what's happened to most on here ?!... all I read lately is negative comments about local businesses. I agree that the food is a bit overpriced, but then you pay £5 for 2 hours play and no one is pushing you to eat there ... But if we put price a side (which seems to be a top topic on every negative comment) then its a wonderful place. I find the owner always very helpful and I did have an issue with one of the staff, but spoke to the owner and she resolved it all ... not had issues ever since! We love It's a kids thing and Gombados at the weekend ... must say that Edie Kadz was not for us ...

Karin I think the point is that the food isn't great and selection isn't fantastic and you can't bring your own food in, so if you are there for 2 hours you are kind of forced to eat their food so the least they could do is make it appertising and appealing.

No one is complaining about the £5 to get in.

why would they let you bring in your own food? that would be silly... the point is they charge little to get in and you spend more at the table.

I personaly love its a kids thing and i take the kids there all the time. Its cheep to get in :D and its clean and to be honest claire is a very nice person. a business woman that is always happy to help you.

After all its a play center NOT A COFFEE SHOP so lets stop slagging people off and just be happy that we have nice places to take our little ones. After all where else can you take them??? EDDIE CATZ?? I THINK NOT

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM CALL ITS A KIDS THING STOP GOSSIPING AND BEING JEALOUSE OF OTHER PEOPLES CUTE LITTLE BUSINESSES.

it really makes me sad all this :(

I have taken all of my children to Its A Kid Thing and have nothing but praise. It was and remains a great addition to our community.

It is reasonbly priced and the food is good for the price you pay. Remember a business has to pay 20% of its income in VAT before it covers its other costs.
Working with other peoples children in a kids play area is one of the hardest jobs you can do, it is not highly paid and you cannot expect the staff to be smiley and happy all the time.

If you want excellent food and excellent service go to Chez Bruce.

Oh Minime your post did give me a good laugh with all your capital letter shouting and total ignorance. You say not to slag off businesses but that is exactly what you just did to Eddie Catz, no?! We are entitled to write what we want, when we want and unfortunately your angry little post isn't going to change that.

The OP wasn't completely slagging off the place she was just raising a few issues which it seems a few other people agree with. It's very strange to say we shouldn't complain about anything and be grateful for what we have, these businesses are offering a service that we pay for!

Oh and livegreen your way of thinking is so typical of UK Customer Service! You believe that because they are badly paid and have to work with kids all day that this gives them an excuse to be rude to Customers??

I'm sure they could find plenty of young staff who are actually wanting to work with young children and find it enjoyable. If they worked for me and were rude to the Customers they wouldn't see out the day.

What if your child went to Nursery and the staff were rude to you or your child? Would you put it down to them being underpaid and having a tough job? Doubt it.

Actually, I do. If you choose to do the job, do it properly or ship out. Yeah, we all have bad days, but I don't expect to be on the receiving end of surliness.

Oh, and two people have said 'I think not' about EC. Not sure what you have against it, but my little boy has a fine old time.

Having spent many an hour in Its A Kids Thing and Eddie Catz it is always the staff I feel for.
Quite a few of the parents and carers allowing their children to run wild whilst sitting complaining about the service/prices. Others making unreasonable requests.

If there is a problem raise it with the manager and/or try somewhere else.

I have always found both these establishments to be very good for the prices they charge.

Remember staff will often mirror the behaviour of their customers, but I am sure all those complaining are always polite and well behaved when dealing with issues.

Moops - Last time I looked at ‘It’s a kids thing' is a children's play zone not a Gordon Ramsey restaurant, you are there for the kids and their entertainment, not for the quality of food. Just like when you go to a Michelin restaurant you are there for the food and don't expect the waiters to dress up as clown  to entertain our toddlers! So, judge them on what they specialise in .... not the extras they provide to make our lives ' as parents' more enjoyable :P ..It's all so boring reading negative comments after negative comments .... Let’s try to bring up issues with the management of the business before 'chatting' behind their backs on here... ... just get out a bit more ... the World has got lots to offer apart from NVN, that is if you can face it with a smile ..

Oh Seriously grow up with the Chez Bruce and Gordon Ramsay comments, none of us expect anything like that but they do run a cafe do they not? They do charge us to buy this food do they not? They do charge quite a lot of money to cater the food for parties there do they not?! Of course we can bloody expect decent food for our money, anyone who is happy to pay for substandard food and customer service needs their head read.

What is getting boring is being told what we can talk about on here by you, if you dont agree don't post. Simples!

The three main posters who seem to have a problem with us discussing our issues with businesses all wrote negative comments in the Venture Photography thread! What hypocrites!

As for getting out a bit more and facing life with a smile, I have a lot to smile about. I no longer live in NV but on Lake Geneva in Switzerland, I still have a property in Earlsfield so I like to keep up to date with what's going on in the area. I couldn't really care less about HF or IAKT but I won't be told by you what I can or cannot say thanks very much!
