HI all,

We are in the process of renovating and so many people have suggested installing a boiling water tap. I was just wondering what brands people have used and any not to use?

Also are there any other "new" ideas for putting in to the kitchen which I haven't thought of / couldn't live without?! All ideas very welcome....

I have a quooker. Totally love it. Didn't look at other brands as at the time we had it fitted at least it was only
One that would do hot, cold and boiling through same tap. Even my mum who was sniffy about it now has one! For other tips, get kitchen plans from a few places and compare. Randomly I love that my bin is below where I chop so pull out and sweep in peelings!

We have a quooker too - all top kitchen designers use them as they are the least likely to have issues and also offer great customer service. The combined taps of hot and cold have had bad write ups. Best of luck

We had a Zip tap fitted also very good.

Yes have the bin close to dishwasher and i love having an island with sink in so that everything is within a short reaching distance when cooking!

We bought all our appliances from Coopers on Upper Richmond Road in East Sheen and I would highly recommend. Really helpful and matched any online price for same appliance whilst giving fair guidance.

Yes! Definitely worth having. Great for making pasta and veg as you never have to boil a kettle. Perfect for baby bottles (if you're at that stage) and if, like me, you drink a lot of tea, you don't waste time waiting.
My little brother told me his friend had a tap put in that does sparkling water too... not something I would use but very cool!
Ps my one big mistake was being talked out of a big American fridge and doing two regular ones (balanced aesthetically) now ten years on and with three kids I could do with the giant one. Stick to your guns on your key things.

Yes, we've had a Fusion Quooker for almost 2 years & wouldn't be without it. Friends have the Franke version &, as it doesn't hear the water to as high a temperature, tea tastes weird. If you're going for it I'd recommend Quooker.

I have had a Quooker for over eight years and wouldn't be without it. Recommend that you get it serviced via one of their engineers every 3-4 years.

We debated getting a Quooker and were persuaded by the kitchen designer. So glad we did as I definitely wouldn't want to be without it now.

The other thing he persuaded me on was an induction hob rather than gas. Again so glad I listened to him as it's amazing

Another vote for a Quooker. Love ours. I would also suggest not bothering with top brand name appliance es. We have Miele and Gaggenau and I can't see they're any different from cheaper brands. I think you're just paying for the name. I'd also recommend an in sink waste disposal unit. And have more than one sink - we have a small one for washing food etc and a bigger one for washing up. Finally I have a warming drawer which I though would be a bit of a white elephant. I don't use it that much but when I do it's really useful. Probably not an essential though.

I have the Grohe Red Duo boiling water tap and I love it. Have never had any issues with it and I love the fact that the sink on my island just has one shapely tap on it. I also find the Quookers very splashy. My other favourite thing in my kitchen (in the other sink, not on the island) is my Franke Fuji Pull out nozzle tap as it is so practical and I love being able to pull the end out to squirt around the corners of the sink.

We got a quooker boiling water tap eight years ago - it was my 'indulgence' when we fitted our kitchen (my husband got ceiling speakers!) and if we were to renovate a kitchen again it would be in the 'essentials' list as I can't imagine being without it; I'm so used to having boiling water 'on tap'! We chose a cooker with a 5 ring gas hob and I regret not having chosen an induction job instead (ease of cleaning without sacrificing performance) and our extractor is very noisy but ineffectual, so do check out the spec. Assuming it's a family house, go for the biggest fridge capacity you can. Undercounter lighting a must have. Check the decibel rating on dishwasher (and washing machine/dryer if those are in the kitchen too). Finally, plan your cutlery drawers by laying out your cutlery and utensils and grouping them how you'd like them to be in the drawers and check how long the compartments need to be. Those are my tips!

Hi, just about every client we work with decides on a Quooker once they have seen them in action (we have one in our home we show clients). You can also book a Quooker approved engineer to install/commission it which i would highly recommend as they are a specialist kitchen device. Hope this helps, all the best, Mike
