Little Village: keeping us going for another year

Postby sophiap » Tue Nov 15, 2016 2:02 pm

Some of you may have heard of Little Village already. We're like a foodbank, but for clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5. We collect up great quality donations from local families and get them out to other families in need across the borough. We're totally volunteer run and were set up by a group of Wandsworth mums last year. Since we took our first referral in April we've helped 170 families. We have given out 55 cots or moses baskets, 127 bundles of clothes, 1140 nappies, 43 buggies, and countless other bundles of toys, equipment, coats, and books.

While Little Village relies on volunteers and your donations of great quality items to operate, some funding is also essential for us to keep going. Rent, van hire, website maintenance, printing costs, new mattresses to give out - these things don't come for free.

In that light we had some really exciting news this week: the fantastic
Bertrum House Nursery has helped us to secure support from a local private charitable trust, which has now very, very kindly offered to match fund any donations we get to our crowdfunder until it closes on Friday 25th November. That means anything you give to us is DOUBLED without you doing a thing!

So please do consider donating to us. It takes no more than 5 minutes, and wouldn't it be incredible for the community to fully fund Little Village for a whole year. So come on Nappy Valley Net, let's do it. you can read more about us at our website www.littlevillagehq.org. and we are currently recruiting more volunteers so if you'd like to get involved in our work as well as donating to our crowdfunder, please do drop us a line - hello@littlevillagehq.org. thank you x
