Easter break holiday recommendations

Postby shaneleone » Thu Jan 12, 2017 9:43 am

I'd love to hear recommendations or ideas for a week-long Easter break holiday. My kids are very young (they will be 2, 4 and 6), and I'd just like to relax, work a little, and read so don't need all the activities of a Mark Warner holiday.

Ideally, I'd like a beach holiday with some sun, not too far from the UK at somewhere with a creche or kids' club (that takes kids as young as mine), and doesn't cost the earth. Does such a place exist? Would love to hear from you if it does?

Thanks for helping out a single mum in desperate need of a holiday!

We had never been until our first child was born and had negative feelings about it that came from no where particular. Then we went to Tenerife. The boy is six now and we have been to there canaries every Easter.

Only place in Europe warm enough to enter the water at Easter, loads of family activities, four hour flight which I decided was there limit of my tolerance before they could play on an iPad, and politically stable unlike Turkey or Egypt.

If Dubai isn't too far, it's guaranteed sunshine. Or Abu Dhabi is a bit more reasonably priced.

Google Lopesan Baobab. It's in Gran Canaria. We have just booked to go there for the half term, our 3rd visit. Our daughter (4.5) loves it there, kids club is great. Plus guaranteed sunshine and about 3.5 - 4hrs hrs flight.

Thumbs up for Gran Canaria

lots of opportunities for kids entertainment, better weather (out of all canary islands, it seems to me Gran Canaria gets most sunshine), gorgeous beach

Crete is also a favourite place with kids, lovely resorts at a modest price, great beaches, not sure about temperatures around Easter though. Been there end of April at earliest - it was pretty hot inside the island, a bit windy on the shore, water was not warm enough for kids yet but overall lovely.

Hello everyone, we're contemplating the Canaries at Easter, is it ALWAYS swimming weather, even for small ones?

The water can still be cold. A lot of the hotels will have a heated toddler pool. I would look for this.

But it's almost always the case you're fine to wait around in shorts and t shirt and enjoy the sunshine.

I've been to Tenerife where sometimes it was too windy to enjoy being outside. This is rare and more common in Fuerteventura.
