carpenter and handyman

Postby James&Sons » Fri Mar 18, 2011 5:41 pm

I've recently started a handyman/carpentry service based in Earlsfield and I'm trying to drum up some work near to home.I've been in the building trade for 20 years, starting out as an apprentice carpenter and working the last ten years as a carpenter/builder in London.
As a sole trader I am the chef, cook, and bottle washer! I think that my rates are really good value and keeping local means I can keep them low.

I would appreciate opinions about how I should promote my business. I know how to do odd jobs and joinery, but not much about advertising! Do you look at flyers if they are put through the door? What sort of things need doing around your house?

I have a website http://www.handymanswlondon.co.uk where you can email, or you can respond to this post.

Thanks
James

I agree with MM! Add a pic and past references/reviews from clients. If you have pictures of past "before" and "after" jobs that may be good too!? Do you do stripping of carpets and polishing wood floorboards?

Thank you so much for your encouragement and advice Mungomuffet, I am definitely going to act on your suggestions. I agree entirely with you about the fact that householders know when they are being fed a load of baloney - this is their home and people take a great interest in all aspects of their homes, not least the bricks and mortar.
i will get onto the website changes very soon, and I would love to have your opinion on the changes
Thanks

thank you for the suggestions Kuki101079.
i will start to put past work and references up on the site soon.
I would be glad to have your views on the changes once I've made them.

I am happy to remove carpet and sand/polish floorboards. You could email me some details snag.sw@gmail.com , or I'm happy to pop round to have a talk about what's involved.
Call me on 07908 248387

Thank you.
James
