My family are talking about a possible trip to Lower Normandy next summer - part of the reason being to do the D-Day beaches so my brother and aged Dad (whilst he's still mobile/with us) can impart their military history knowledge, esp. with regards to the role my grandfather played in designing Mulberry Harbour, for which he was given an OBE. My nephews are very into soldiers and the oldest is starting to learn about WW2, so we thought it would be a good thing to do.
Anyway, I thought it would be worth a post as no doubt some of you have rented places in France for family holidays, and was wondering if any of them had been in that area (ie: between Cherbourg and Caen), and would therefore be places you could recommend?
As my uncle and aunt are hoping to join us from the USA (and possibly my cousins) and the grandchildren will have expanded from 4 to 6 this year, we will be needing to accommodate anything from 10-13 adults (up to 87 years old) and 6 kids - raging in age from 9 months to 13 years. So finding something that works for all is going to be quite a tall order!
I've started looking on sites such as Baby Friendly Boltholes, as I know they will cater for the 3 wee ones we will have with us, but if you ladies have any personal recommendations of your own, that you could pass on (or even just other websites/travel companies you could recommend) that would be fantastic. Or if you could pass on my request to any friends that you know have holidayed in that area, I would be most grateful.
It seems like a way off to be thinking about May or July next year, but given the size of our party we are probably going to be looking at taking over several gites (ie: a whole place), so need to get booking this year before any get taken.
Many thanks for any suggestions.
