Make Woodfield Your Open Space: Public Meeting, April 4th

Postby Dandelion » Thu Mar 31, 2011 7:15 am

Public Meeting: Monday 4 April
7:30 pm
Henry Cavendish School, Hydethorpe Road, Balham, SW12

Woodfield is a beautiful 2.8 acre field with a pavilion on the edge of Tooting Common. Formerly the home of a Steiner school, this tranquil spot is desperately in search of a useful purpose – for the community!
Wandsworth council wants to hear solid proposals for running and getting the most out of this wonderful site. So how might your local group or school make use of it? Here are a few ideas:
ï‚· a community garden and eco-centre
 a “forest school” where local schoolchildren can take outdoor classes, learn about the environment and grow their own produce
ï‚· a self-sustaining community centre for local groups, events and coffee mornings
ï‚· a nature centre for fostering local endangered species
ï‚· a youth or arts and cultural centre
 a venue for local children’s clubs
 a star-gazers’ club
 … how would you like to see it used???
The Woodfield Community Association wants you to help us put the local community in charge of Woodfield! Please bring your ideas and imagination to our community meeting on Monday evening for a brain-storming and organising session.

I thought there was already a plan when the council refused to give the Steiner School a new lease??
