French villa / gite recommendations wanted (6 - 13 August)

Postby andersonrca » Wed Jun 07, 2017 10:36 pm

Hi,

I am hoping you may have some great suggestions for us. We are looking for a villa /gite in France from the 6th to the 13th August, give or take a couple of days.

We are a family of 4 (5yr and 1yr old boys). Flexible in terms of location and a middle of the road budget, and we would like a pool. We'd like countryside and to avoid large resorts.

Slightly overwhelmed by airbnb and the holiday rental website - so any personal recommendations would be fantastic!

Thank you

Try https://www.babyfriendlyboltholes.co.uk/, they have less properties and they are all family-friendly and budget-friendly;

There are several properties on my blog which could be of interest, including some reviewed by me or my f'riends:
http://fromthepoolside.com/advanced-sea ... tdoor-pool

(PS: I do not have any affiliation with any of those and don't get a commission, they are just places that I find beautiful and family-friendly)

the challenge will be to find ones that are available. Best of luck!

PS: most rentals in France are Saturday to Saturday so you'll have more chances to find something if you can amend your dates to 5 to 12th of August.

good luck

Thanks everyone for those tips. Great links, and the tip that sat to sat is the standard rental window is good to know.

SLD, thanks for your message.

Hi there,

I can't help with a personal recommendation, but this one gets good reviews from our renters:

Or if you are wanting to spend a little less, this one:
https://www.clickstay.com/france/saint- ... tage-73682

This one is also good value - it's very close to a resort, which might not suit you, but it does seem to be a low-key one:

Hope this helps!

Where do you want to stay in France, you have the beaches...Britanny or the South of France are your best options, but bear in mind SoF is heaving in the summer, roads are ram packed. Best places are St.Raphael/Frejus, Saint Maxime, Cannes.
You can stay inland a little and visit the many river beaches, Roman architecture for a bit of culture so anywhere near Avignon, Orange or Isle sue la Sourge or Gorges du Verdon are amazing.
Mountains...Morzine (fantastic summer resort, massive swimming complex, summer luge, cable car trips) you can buy a lift pass for €2 a day that gets you into the swimming pools and ice-rinks La Clusaz and Grenoble are lovely too.
Go with airbnb as owners are quite flexible on dates.
