Recommended builder for full renovation... Post Reply

Hi there, I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a builder they have used recently please. I live in Clapham and am planning a full refurb of a 3.5 bedroom maisonette. This might include some structural work (removing a large chimney breast to open up the kitchen + moving the bathroom), therefore needing party wall agreements and building control sign off from the council etc. Do people think it is best to use a "one stop shop" where design, structural work, surveying and the building process is carried out by one firm? There are so many firms to choose from (many of which appear to have favourable reviews) that I am not sure where to start. Thanks in advance

I would recommend Hurlingham Developments based in Fulham. They have their own in house teams so they can compete on price. They have some good examples of work to show you and cover SW London. Contact Andy On 07739 174360. www.hurlinghamdevelopments.co.uk. Theyve been established about 20 years and are very competent with party wall agreements and building control.

They offer a complete service and have their own team of designers, architects, builders etc.

You are right to be careful about who to choose especially if you are removing a chimney breast which will need carefully considered structural supports for the wall. I have been renovating and extending my property portfolio in Tooting and Wandsworth for a long time now and you will need a company that is really knowledgable. I can only recommend Deutsche lofts/builders who haven't failed me on over 15 projects to date. They are very professional and respond to every phone call, turn up every day until the work is finished and always provide me most importantly with by far the best quote.
