Anyone learned british sign language?
I have always wanted to learn it and there are so many courses,dont know which one to chose
Is it possible to be able to learn it properly on an online course? Tutor led classes are to expensive

Oak Lodge School, on Nightingale Lane.

They run adult classes in British Sign Language in the evenings. I did BSL Level 1 last year, and it was excellent.

It's quite a commitment in time and money, but very valuable if you're interested in learning.

It is very good. I did it too. As my son attends oak lodge I got level 1 lessons free. Level 2 are even more expensive. I'm sorry to say that there isn't really a cheaper option that I know of. Ah except the 7th day Adventist church also did a course that our nurse went on. No idea how come or how you would take part.

Can I ask why you want to learn? The problem is that like any language if you don't use it, you do forget it very easily.

You could always volunteer at the school? Learn it by being surrounded by it?

I was always interested in it. Im a nanny Nd thought its good skill to boost my cv and of course I want to use it with children. Although friends told me , kids use makaton

Small children benefit from baby sign from 6 months old. Makaton is used for children and adults with limited mobility and/or limited understanding. BSL is for deaf or mute children where makaton is too limited. As a nanny I would suggest baby sign is a good start. And is also cheaper and more accessible. It is based on makaton.
