Getting a National Insurance number

Postby JoY » Tue Oct 03, 2017 8:48 pm

Hi,

Our au pair is trying to get a National Insurance number to enable her to do some extra work while she is in the UK. There seems to be one central UK telephone line and she has been on hold on intermittently for the week! There doesn't seem to be an option to apply online. Has anyone any recommendations/ experience of getting an NI number?

Any advice gratefully received.

Jo

Call the government number and you are on hold for about 30-40 minutes!

But then you will get an appointment at tooting job centre and it’s relatively simple from there.

Make sure you have your aupairs full name email and phone before calling.

Also at the appointment send a letter from yourself stating her full name and dob and she lives with you and attach a copy of your council tax letter.

They need their ID card /passport and reference number.

Done!
