Aluminium Crittall Style doors - recommendations? Post Reply

Hi all,

We are soon starting a renovation project in Balham and have our heart set on Crittall style doors for the kitchen, however I know they are very expensive with long lead times so we're considering the aluminium style alternative.

Has anyone locally had these fitted and any recommendations for companies or even showrooms locally that we can see them in person?

I am exactly in the same boat. I went to Aspire Doors in Epsom to have a look and expecting a quote today. Went to the Grand Designs Live show last month and there were s couple who did crittal style Aluminium - there was a company called Herritage windows or something similar but they had chunky panels in the inside. I researched a few more companies (Hedgehog and Skyglaze) but haven't spoken to them yet. Please let me know if you find anything reasonable and nice!

I’m just finishing a side return extension and used Jennyfields for aluminium crittal style doors. So far so good. PM me if you want further details.

We had a stunning crittall glass wall between our hallway and kitchen/dining room put in to our house a few months ago by Govette Windows.

They were absolutely great - installation team was very courteous, polite, and tidy. Some of the glass panes were dirty/scratched when they arrived, and they reordered, revisited, and replaced at no extra cost, and without any hassle.

The lead time was super long - more than 12 weeks I believe - so its great you 're thinking about it now.

Note that due to building regulations, you might need fire-rated crittall, since it involves the kitchen. In which case the cost goes up considerably - and the number of suppliers who can do it fall.

I recently had 4 quotes from different companies for double hinged Crittall style doors. The best I had was with doorsofsteel. They booked a site visit within a week and they are due to install next month. Can’t wait to see my new doors :)
