Rats - HELP

Postby hol78 » Tue Sep 04, 2018 10:53 pm

Im convinced there is a "rat passage" in my garden.  There are no signs of a rat ie poo or chewing but I keep blocking a perfectly round hole on either side of my garden ie it looks like whatever it is comes from one neighbour runs across my garden and goes into the other neighbours garden.  Having looked up how to get rid of them I dont want to use a poison because of the effect on Children/ animals etc if it gets into the wrong hands but I cannot face a trap.  Aside from getting a pest control firm in is there anything that I can do to deter them?  We dont have food or a BBQ in the garden as we have previously had a fox C*ap in the garden - since we have stopped we had no signs of foxes but I cannot deal with rats assuming thats what it is !!!

Hi
So sorry to hear this.

I don’t know about specific advice but Pestulance are local and amazing.

They sorted out an issue for us a while ago.

Good luck - I know how horrid it can be.

May be cats or more likely foxes.

Peppermint oil

Glue board

Seal the hole with brick

Put a lamp in there

We had a similar persistent hole, so got some fine mesh chickenwire and tacked it over, digging it in down below ground level, then put stones in front to completely block it. Nothing has come through that since. Good luck.

Yes I forgot about that - copper wool is meant to be amazing in that they can’t chew through it - we bought it on the internet.
