Welcome to a new year in Nappy Valley. Hope you enjoyed some downtime (ha!) in amongst all the yuletide, New Year and school holiday celebrations, because there’s a whole lot going on this January for you and yours to get your teeth into. Whether you’re looking to get fit, meet other mums, understand how babies work or inject some new inspiration into your children’s clubs and activities, we have inspiration in bucketfuls. (read more).

Skylark’s Teatime Disco is back on Friday teatimes (tomorrow – yay!). What a way to wind up the week for the children while you have a sit down, relax and enjoy a cup of tea and cake while they hit the dance floor.  Talk about #fridayfeeling… (read more).

Go celebrate Michael Bond’s birthday at the Wandsworth Town Library on Saturday with the Paddington Bear Storytime & Craft Event for those aged 4 and over.  Don’t forget your marmalade sandwich (read more).

Let’s Act junior drama is in the midst of two weeks of free trials, so if you have a little one aged from 3 to 6 who might like to tread the boards of St Luke’s, here’s their chance to give it a try with sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays (read more).

And over in Teddington next week with Little Voices there’s an evening of free trial lessons to celebrate their latest venue, with sessions for Mini Voices aged 4 to 7 as well as Little Voices from 8 to 13 (read more).

For those aged 8 to 18 and interested in developing their acting, dancing and singing, Whitgift’s Saturday Performing Arts programme is open to boys and girls and offers expert tuition linked to trade specialists working with TV, theatre and film agents. Term time Saturdays and entry by audition (read more).

If yours like to move it, move it, then they might like to move it to Putney for a Dance Groove’s Street Dance Class for boys and girls aged 5 to 9 to strut their stuff, and sessions for older children too. Make it a feel-good January (read more).

Cheeky Kitchen cookery sessions get underway again today for the new term.  Two and half year olds and up will have hands on fun in a home kitchen (just not your own!!) led by Early Years teachers using fresh ingredients for healthy eating (read more).

Exceptional Academics start weekly 11+ Saturday Classes for current Year 5 students this weekend. They run throughout the academic year and are based at Belleville Primary, helping to prepare children for the exams that lie ahead (read more).

Saturday Morning Football Sessions start up by the Bowling Green Café this weekend, run by a UEFA coach who has worked at Crystal Palace FC, Fulham FC and currently Watford FC. Instil teamwork, leadership skills and even more of a love of the beautiful game in your bouncing boys and girls aged 4 to 12 (read more).

Sparks run weekly movie-making classes for 4 to 18 year olds at The Saturday Shoots, based at Broomwood Hall on Nightingale Lane. Call the shots in your own film set every weekend, a place for children and teens to grow in confidence and creativity. Ready, set, action! (read more).

A new Baby Yoga Course is starting soon for little ones aged from 3 months upwards, full of songs, movement and fun. Look at the picture on this one – so sweet! (read more).

The next 4-week Nurturing Mums Postnatal course to get underway is in Balham next week so if you’re brand new to the parenting world, this could be for you.  Weekly sessions covering sleep, weaning and more, plus a professional photo of you and your baby and a goodie bag packed with local treats (read more).

And if you’re thinking ahead to February half term already (it really is quite soon!) then Kimberley Swim Clinics have dates confirmed at the fab pool at Ernest Bevin, as well as the Easter holidays and May half term too. It’s a fresh new year. Time to try something new?

The Village Hall at The Battersea Power Station is transformed into a toasty winter cinema this weekend for the Luna Cinema Pop-Up and a series of family-friendly films on offer including La La Land and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Book me a beanbag! (read more).

Four Sides London on Northcote Road run regular Pilates sessions and this physio-led Strength & Conditioning Class on Tuesdays or Thursdays is for new mums, mums-to-be and mums of any age and stage who want to strengthen and tone safely (read more).

If you’re based Richmond way and have a new baby in tow, then Buggyfit could be just the thing following your GP check-up.  Get fit, chat to other local mums and both you and your baby get some fresh air with no need for childcare (read more).

Bring your Own Baby Comedy is back in Teddington with grown-up lunchtime comedy from some of the funniest stars on TV and the comedy circuit, with soft flooring, toys, buggy parking and changing so you can relax and have a giggle. Sounds like just the thing for January (read more).
