That’s right, it’s National Burger Day (best holiday ever), and to celebrate, Portico London estate agents have found five of the tastiest burger joints in town, and secured you a Portico Places discount at each and every one…
If you want a burger – or a challenge – head to Ben’s Canteen in Battersea or Earlsfield. Take your pick from the almighty Salad Dodger (pictured), The BC Burger (an indulgent blend of umami laden beef patty topped with succulent salt beef, gooey cheese and house burger sauce), or my personal fave, the Posh Fried Chicken. Their sweet pot fries are a must-have accompaniment.
Oh, and if you still have space, opt for their DIY doughnuts for dessert. You won’t regret it.
Famed for their golf ball sized risotto balls, Arancini Brothers is no less than legendary in Kentish Town. Burgers are on the menu from breakfast to dinner; start the day with breakfast burger served with a delicious risotto veg patty, roast tomato, fried egg, and brekky mayo in an organic brioche bun, or end it with the veggie luey Dolcelatte Onion jam burger, made with a risotto veg patty, Dolcelatte blue cheese, onion jam, mix leaves, tomato, a house mayo and an organic brioche bun.
Here’s another restaurant that serves Man versus Food style burgers. If you’re feeling adventurous, try their Pulled Pork Burger which comes with red cabbage and ginger slaw, rocket and apple sauce, or the deliciousness of their Falafel Burger, which is topped off with hummus, tzatziki, spiced carrot slaw, tomato and rocket. Their 24-hour a day opening hours make them a favourite stop-off after a night out. We recommend trying the pancakes too!
The Gate officially – well, according to Portico – offers the best veggie burgers in London. Unfortunately they’re not always on the adult menu as they mix it up quite regularly, but the chickpea and sweet potato burger is a firm favourite on the kids’ menu, and comes served with creamy guacamole and moreish chips.
They also offer an amazing Sunday roast – but we’ll wait until National Sunday Roast day to big that up!
Of course all-American Hard Rock Cafe was going to make our best burger list. The guys here know how to make a good burger – and they’ve been serving them at their Old Park Lane location since ’71. Try the Fiesta Burger, which is a succulent beef patty in a toasted brioche bun, layered with fiery jalapeno salsa, melted cheese, fresh guacamole, crisp lettuce and tomato.
