Sainsbury’s Wandsworth: man stabbed. Most popular baby names. Local school results round-up

Last Updated on : 5th September 2016

Dear NappyValleyNetter,

Last year we published and printed our very first NappyValleyNet Schools Guide.

Packed full of information on local schools, opens days and application procedures it was a huge success and (as a movie voice-over person might say) is now back by popular demand.

As a result the brand new 2016/17 guide should be landing on your doormats over the next few days.

If you don’t receive a copy (we ask our distributors to respect no junk mail signs) then just drop me an email and I’ll pop one in the post.

We hope you find it useful and, as always, we’d love your feedback and thoughts as to how we might improve future editions.

Here is what you’ve been discussing this week about on NappyValleyNet:

weekly1Sticking with schools, August may be the month of beaches and barbecues but it’s also when GCSE and A Level results are published. We’ve rounded up as many local school’s results as we could find. Congratulations to all involved! (click here).

And still sticking with schools, in spite of some Southern Rail shenanigans the “Balham Bullet” is back! Well done to everyone who circulated the petition! (click here).

From one petition to another… Smh has started one to improve playground facilities on Clapham Common (click here).

A different type of playground but equally important! OJD is looking for a venue for his daughters 16th birthday party. Ideally accommodating 50+ guests and somewhere  that’ll allow alcohol in a controlled environment. Hmmm think this could be a tough one! (click here)

weekly1Dreadful news from Sainsbury’s in Wandsworth – on Saturday night a man was stabbed in their car park (click here).

DystopianHangover asks for advice on coping with male depression without visiting a GP. Do please post if you can help but please be aware this is a real person with a very real problem (click here)

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is an incredible play and MOTB is selling four tickets for THIS Wednesday. Oompah Loompahs (or children) go free! (click here).

The most popular baby names of 2015 have been released. Amelia and Oliver have done well but who’d have thought Arbuthnot would be so popular! I’m lying about one of those names (click here).

weekly1GeorgieL thinks she’s lost two passports whilst out and about on Northcote Road. Please shout if you’ve seen them! (click here)

From lost passports to lost weekends (well only if you spend too much on their products): a new wine shop has opened on Nightingale Line. Thanks for posting PPE and I concur, lets support them! (click here)

LM asks how holiday days are decided for a nanny and their employer? (click here)

On a more serious note, MP is looking for help and reassurance: she’s suffering from ME and would love to hear any uplifting stories from those whom have coped and/or recovered (click here).

Librarian123 is looking for free parking in Wandsworth – know of a place that might temporarily store her car whilst she sells it? (click here)

Another transport question but this time of a two wheel theme. FL would love to buy a Cargo bike – can you help her source a cycle? (click here)

I really hope we can help with this question: MSW11 has had two difficult births and is considering a VBAC 2 or elective caesrian. Any suggestions on both approach and hospitals? (click here)

weekly1Starting school can be really stressful. And that’s just for the parents! On a serious note our friends at Role Models have announced a series of Confidence and Resilience courses to help children get the most from these new starts (click here)

Torinogal is looking for an Italian tutor for her young children (click here).

Do you know the lovely Playhouse Playgroup on Lyford Road? Well they’ve just posted that they have a few spaces so do check them out if you’re on the look-out for one! It’s the most magical space! (click here)

Does your little one want to play hockey? Actually after that amazing Olympics medal perhaps I should ask who DOESN’T want to play hockey! Well if you the the Wanderers are recruiting! (click here)

And we have a cockpit full of travel posts: Canuck is after your suggestions for a Christmas holiday with her one year old? Short transfer times, hot tubs, scenic views and a roaring log fire are on the list of preferred requirements. Wow, that is ONE choosy baby! Ah, OK that’s the PARENTS wish-list! (click here) We’ve had a heap of suggestions for holiday destinations for a single mum and her two year old (click here) and I couldn’t agree more about Mark Warner. We’ve just come back from Levante and there were a number of single parents there. Lastly Spannar would love your Bangor accommodation suggestions? (click here).

Do you remember last week’s post about replacing a Magimix? We’ve had a mixing bowl full of replies and some lovely advice from the brilliant Forkful Foods – thanks everyone! (click here)

New aupair? Then don’t forget to tell them all about the meet-up this Thursday! (click here)
