September means back to school but it also means digging out your winter wardrobe.
As you enjoy looking at the new A/W18 trends, you shouldn’t forget about your underwear drawer. After all, your bras and pants are the foundation of any outfit. If your lingerie is wrong, nothing will fit properly or be comfortable.
Here’s our pick of the five essentials when it comes to your winter lingerie:
If you only have one bra in your lingerie drawer, it should probably be Nude – whichever shade of beige/cafe latte/brown fits best with your skin tone. Whether smooth or not, going nude means you don’t have to think about what you wear on top (we all have those rushed, disorganised mornings!) as it won’t show through. Nude may not be very exciting, but it’s certainly practical.
So you think red lingerie is only for that special night in…but actually, red is more practical than you may think.
Red doesn’t show through white fabric and you can use it like a black bra under most darker outfits. So, why not introduce a bit of fun into your lingerie drawer and get yourself something red. It will also be a nice pop of colour when you get undressed, making every night special!
You may have noticed that animal prints (especially leopard) and tartan are big this coming season. The same is true for your lingerie.
Bras don’t have to be boring, nor do they have to work with every outfit that you own. Sometimes you have to show a strap or you want to match your underwear to your outerwear. With printed bras, you can. This season we have some timeless leopard print for you to choose from, and also a sparkly tartan that is anything but square. And of course, there will always be pretty florals.
Black and Gold:
With the winter months comes the end-of-year party season. What better way to accessorise your favourite little black dress than to show a bit of black and gold lace or a sparkly shoulder strap? What could be more sexy than to look all demure on the outside but know you are all golden goddess underneath..!?
Team your black and gold lingerie with some funky tights or hold ups and you can transform your black office dress into a special party outfit, still with spare change for cocktails.
The trend of underwear as outerwear is here to stay, but if layering a silk slip over a roll neck and opaque tights is way out of your comfort zone, remember it is a very versatile item of clothing.
Firstly, you can use it as a slip underneath dresses to streamline all those unwanted lumps and bumps. It is also a visually pleasing and comfortable thermal layer to wear underneath knitted dresses. And finally, they make the perfect nightie, adding a touch of luxury to your nightwear.
