Bubble – On-demand app Baby sitting App

I love South West London. I came here as a student – living in Tooting when years had 19s in the front of them – and then, after some time dotted around the country, I landed near Lavender Hill. That was nearly 17 years ago and I’ve kept an SW postcode ever since.

Back ‘in the day’, with the future Mrs M often leading the way, there would be regular tours down the Northcote Road – the Holy Drinker, Babel, etc – hanging right up Battersea Rise to Le Bouchon. Or occasionally find ourselves lost in The Grand or The Bedford or The White House or, heaven forbid, Infernos.

But just as places change over time, so do people. We became parents and a whole new world opened up to us. Yes, a fantastic place for much of the time but just like being lost in Infernos, punctuated by those ‘how did we get here??’ moments.

As parents, we looked at those other people – let’s call them ‘the-ones-out-enjoying-themselves’ – and thought, just occasionally, we wanted to be out there with them. In fact, more than that, if we needed to get to a meeting during the day, or a doctor’s appointment, or a gym session, or just have a well-deserved lie-in (aka ‘5-star-luxury-without-leaving-the-house’), why couldn’t we? We just needed a network of people – let’s call them ‘our friends’ – who knew other trusted people who could watch the kids.

And that’s how bubble came to life. Bubble is an on-demand app that shows you great local sitters who are available to help you out. Every sitter is ID verified and background checked, and whether it’s through friends, your school/nursery or Facebook, you can see if and how you are connected to them. You can read ratings and reviews, book and pay the sitters up to the minute through the app. It’s all totally cashless and without any subscription or joining fee (we just charge a £3.50 booking fee at the end).
