I'm inclined to agree with Charlietheangel. Lycra shorts are fine for a sporty ride round Richmond Park or such like, but if you're going shopping/to work/on the school run, I consider a pair of baggy shorts on top a must.

My husband did something very similar but I've learnt to deal with it by thinking it was just showing off my property.

Although maybe not so good in the school yard.

Not great for the children who are at eye level with it

Although I am sure he will be pleased with you referring to him as well-endowed.

Maybe we need a pic as proof.

Just get him to wear loose fitting shorts on top. I wear both - the Lycra with the shorts on top and hubby does the same. All made by Altura the cycling company / they're listed as baggy cycling shorts that you fir the Lycra lining underneath.
The Lycra ones alone also go see through on the bottom sometimes so I have no idea why more people don't cover up.
We have a couple of dads in inappropriate Lycra at school and it's not what you want to see 1st thing in the morning!

Although slightly different, isn't the non deliberate anatomical display similar to us ladies with low cut or figure hugging tops?

I do agree with the idea of a long top too to conceal matters a tad more perhaps? 8-)

To bulge or not to bulge? The padding covers most of the plumbing unless they are Michael Fassbender! No padding would be way worse in so many ways. As for no lycra for both sexes, well the school run would look way different

I feel for you ... my husband turns up to parents evening (the one-to-one meetings with the teachers) wearing his tight borat type Lycra. The poor teachers don't know where to look ! But have learned to live with it ... there are worse things he could do than invest in a bike and in a bit of Lycra and with so many MAMILS around SW I am sure most people don't even notice "the bulge" !

I don't think you're overreacting at all. I would be mortified if my husband started dressing like that.
I'm sorry but it's basic self-awareness.

Luckily it's getting bit chilly now so hopefully it'll shrink

People can choose to look... or not. I don't see that this is an issue. If he's not embarrassed why should you be? He's a father dropping off his children. It's not as if he's on a speed date. I think you're over-thinking a little.

Personally I think both sexes should cover up that area with a longer t-shirt or a vest under t-shirt. Even if you think you can carry off that look we really don't want to see it thanks!

Hopefully now it's getting colder he'll wear a coat!

Thank you for your input! I will definitely check out some other cyclist shorts options - that'll be his Xmas present sorted...

The reference to Borat made me laugh as his current lycra shorts also have integrated braces which are not miles apart from the Borat mankini (but thankfully the braces remain hidden under a top)!

What beats me is that for years we both laughed at the lycra-clad commuters - and now he's one of them...

I worked in an office with a few male biking obsessed colleagues. I felt embarrassed for them. Just show him a picture of Borat. It might turn him off to the idea.

There are loads of clothing options, all with slightly different fits. The shop with the best range of clothing is Sigma Sports in Kingston, just the other side of Kingston Bridge. See sigmasport.co.uk
