Yes there is a stopping train now

It leaves Clapham Junction at 0735 and stops all stations to East Croydon arriving 0801
There is then a train leaving East Croydon at 0804, arriving South Croydon 0806

This journey will might not appear on national rail as they expect a minimum of 5 minutes interchange time

It is a cross platform change but if the first train is late and they miss their connection they will be late for school

----

The better option is a 0739 from Clapham Junction calling at East Croydon and South Croydon only
It arrives at South Croydon at 0752
So from Wandsworth Common - take the 0727 to Clapham Junction arriving 0731, then a cross platform change to the 0739 to South Croydon

Unfortunately coming home they will still have to make 2 changes

And National Rail journey planner has just updated to show the 7.39 from Wandsworth Common tomorrow morning.

Just to update you that Southern Rail has confirmed that the 6.52 from Watford will now stop at Wandsworth Common at 7.39 and reach East Croydon where a connecting train leaves a few minutes later (from an adjacent platform - no stairs) to reach South Croydon at 8.06. This is reflected in the PDF timetable on the Southern Rail website. However, the train is not currently showing up in the National Rail journey planner for tomorrow so who knows whether it will run!

As far as I can work out that means no direct trains at all between Wandsworth Common and South Croydon. Screen shot attached - hopefully!

As the changes are part of the whole 2020 rail reorganisation I think they will go ahead

To see what the changes may mean for you - check out the following weblink - you can input the three letter station codes to compare the old and new timetables

The registrar at Whitgift thinks that this won't go ahead, but it looks like it's certain to go ahead if they've already got a new timetable due to start in 10 days. Does anyone know? God, how I hate Southern!!!

Please note the petition is an old one that's been updated - I spent ages trying to work out why I couldn't sign it!

It feels like they try to do this almost every year!

If you or your children use Southern Rail please do look at the new timetable which comes into effect on 20 May to see how it impacts you. The many schoolchildren who use the services have not been considered as there are no direct trains in the morning from Wandsworth Common (and other stations south of WC) down to South Croydon necessitating changes at a busy time and increasing the likelihood of accidents.

There is a petition here:

You can also contact Southern Rail directly via their website to raise any concerns.
