The cold light gives me a headache, too. And as luck would have it, we have installed just such bulbs in our yard. I hope this time I won't get migraines from this lighting. In fact, even my led flashlight for home use has warm lighting, although most often they have disgusting white blinding lighting. I understand people who get migraines from this light. The only thing that helped me was trying to sleep. How do you deal with headaches due to that awful lighting?

If those light help to reduce crime then we should appreciate their work!

I'm very much in the opposite camp, loving the better illumination. Our street feels much much safer after dark and although there is a bit of light that leaks in through the curtains and blinds at the front of the street, it's no worse than the sickly yellow/orange light that did so before.

Someone told me the street lamps are brighter to deter crime - but I don’t know if that’s the reason. Yes, our street is floodlit too.

I’ve noticed this since the warm weather has meant having to sleep with the window open. Had to have a pillow over my head which kind of defeats the object!

New Streetlights Being Installed Across Wandsworth Are *Blindingly* Bright and Council Doesn't Seem To Care???

Hi All.

Whilst I applaud the fitting of low-energy bulbs to all the streetlights in Wandsworth (completing by end of 2018) I abhor their intense headache-inducing white brightness.

Our street looks like a football stadium or a commercial container docks at night now - luckily we sleep at the back but our front rooms are now flooded with light at night - I feel sorry for neighbours who have loft the "soft yellow glow" of the old lamps and now have to try and sleep with a searchlight pointing at their curtains.

It also makes the whole street look harsh and uninviting and surely must affect nesting birds etc.

Surely the council could have used bulbs with less intense wattage? Or dimmed them or put yellow sodium type filters over them?

Horrible!

I thought councils have been reducing light pollution but this move is in the wrong direction.

The council website is full of complaints on this - I will add mine very soon, maybe you would like to comment too?
