Kibou Japanese Restaurant, Northcote Road - Review

We were lucky enough to book a table at hot newcomer Kibou on the Northcote Road for Birthday Celebrations.  The rave reviews are well deserved.  The Japanese kitchen created plate after delicious plate, all beautifully presented, exquisite in detail and taste.   It’s being a long old 5 months since we’d all last been out out at a restaurant together.  We were ready to celebrate and were not disappointed with melt in the mouth Sashimi & delicious Nigiri from the Sushi kitchen, the Tempura options were a win too as were the pork Gyoza and chicken Yakitori and Kara-age.  For mains, we followed our sharing plates with Terriyaki, Donburi bowls and a Shogayaki from the hot kitchen - a total feast!

This new restaurant takes its cue from Tokyo’s bustling back streets for laid back day to night dining and there’s a click & collect option for day time take out.  It wasn’t just the food that made it a great night, it was the cool interiors too and the buzzy vibe.  The canteen and bar are really stylish, with on trend exposed brickwork, lush house plants and eclectic furniture fused with eye catching murals.
