THE QUEEN’S PLATINUM JUBILEE BEACON TRAIL
CLAPHAM JUNCTION
Thursday 26th May 2022 - Sunday 12th June 2022

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon Trail is a free, augmented reality trail – a fantastic day out for families. Explore Clapham Junction with the help of your augmented reality guide, Sir Barnaby Beacon, as he visits seven memorable and magical friends – like Charlie Crown or Theadora Throne – who have come to life from Buckingham Palace and have ventured out on a day trip.

Clapham Junction will be one of at least 100 communities across the UK to run this free story-trail as we celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and historic 70 years of service. On this innovative experience, families choose what happens on the story-trail using a smartphone to discover cute characters along the route where they will see them burst to life in augmented reality – once players open the AR they can take selfies or even record movies with the characters!

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon Trail is located at seven story-points around Clapham Junction, ready for families to explore with the help of their augmented reality guide, Sir Barnaby Beacon. It takes about forty-five minutes to complete (but can be completed in more than one visit), is completely contactless – thanks to its cutting edge QR code, web-based platform – so anyone with a smartphone can take part. To play, families simply scan a poster or any trail character with their smartphone. There is no need to download any apps or register. It’s absolutely free and families who take part will win a free, digital fun pack at the end!

The seven participating businesses are:
  • Brickwood – 21 Battersea Rise SW11 IHG
  • Huttons – 29 Northcote Road SW11 1NJ
  • Pizza Express – 230-236 Lavender Hill SW11 1LE
  • Urban Legend – ShopStop, Unit 1 Clapham Junction Station SW11 1RU
  • Flying Tiger – 84-86 St John’s Road SW11 1PX
  • The Schoolhouse – 139 John’s Hill SW11 1TD
  • Palmer – 125B Northcote Road SW11 6PS

Northcote Road - Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June 2022

Prepare your cameras for more than meets the eye, with our life size legendary shape shifting ‘robots in disguise’ – Bumblebee and Razor the Raptor will descend on Northcote Road SW11 as part of the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The impressive robot and dinosaur stand roughly three metres tall, and are set to meet their biggest admirers at intervals between 12noon and 4:00pm.

Bumblebee and Razor will meet, greet, and pose for pictures with the younger audience. Adding to the family fun over the jubilee weekend will be a small funfair and other attractions between Wakehurst Road and Kelmscott Road.

There will be summer street parties across Lambeth to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the special four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5.
Brockwell Park, between Herne Hill and Tulse Hill, will also be hosting Jubilation on June 2, a ticketed event, which is free for accompanied under-10s, and is being headlined by British musical legends Madness.
A community event will follow on June 25 and June 26 at Loughborough Community Centre, Max Roach One O’clock Club & Adventure Playground hosted by The Flying Seagull Project, a children’s arts charity.
They will be providing circus, entertainment, music and fun, while the The Felix Project will also be there providing food with chefs on hand preparing food for the event using surplus supplies in partnership with young people who took part in Bite Back 2030’s Community Food Champions pilot.
Families will be invited to attend, with plenty of activities for children, food provided as well as performances from the children that they have volunteered to put on and have been rehearsing. The event, which is backed by the National Lottery Community Fund also involves local charity groups.
In total Lambeth will see 61 street parties happening during the Jubilee Weekend, from June 2 to June 5, with half happening on the Sunday. Lambeth Council’s Events and Highways teams have been working with residents to ensure the impact of road closures are minimised.

To celebrate this historic year, the team at No3 Bistro has designed an afternoon tea with a doff of the hat to Her Royal Highness record-breaking 70 years on the throne.

As well as taking in the decadent surroundings our guests have come to love here at No3 Restaurant and Bistro at Nightingale Place, we'll be sprucing things up with a patriotic Jubilee touch for the extended weekend.
