I will echo the words of previous poster and say - PLEASE re-home him through the dedicated breed specific center - Beagle Welfare Organisation.

https://www.beaglewelfare.org.uk/

I own a gorgeous, very chilled and well behaved beagle BUT they become like this only when handled appropriately and you need to put a lot of work into this at the beginning. It's definitely not a breed for first time dog owners. They are not a breed you can take for a run... They follow their nose and need to be allowed to roam and explore / play independently. This is what they have been bred to do. Independence. They need a lot of socialising and playtime with other dogs / kids. They like big bustling families, preferably with lots of kids or lots going on, not quiet houses. They will not sit quietly in one place in the office... Some dogs will, beagles won't. They need a lot of walking, preferably off the lead which requires a lot of training. They are gorgeous, affectionate and very intelligent dogs but I find it upsetting meeting people who have beagles and try to change their nature or get frustrated by not having the kind of dog they wanted. This creates a frustrated badly behaved dog and a frustrated owner. I've met hundreds of them...

So please, do the right thing, and do it through the Beagle Welfare org. They will be able to choose the right own and also guide the new owner through the adoption process.

My partner and I work from home and run our IT consultancy and healthcare business respectively. We have a lovely 30ft garden in South London which is a sun trap , so great for dogs to explore and we don't have any kids. My partner is a fitness freak so goes running everyday and I'm sure would love a companion to run with in the common.

I appreciate you're probably just thinking about it , so let me know if you're open to us visiting you or for you to come around to ours.

Also, if you're just looking for a free petsitter instead, I am happy to help as much as I can. I genuinely love dogs! :)

Hi please private message me x

Hi NannyinBalham, your post caught our attention in the newsletter.

We’ve been wanting to get a dog but we were waiting for the right time, our daughter is now almost 6 years old and at the perfect age. We recently bought a lovely home right next to Clapham Common with a back garden and a back gate straight into the park, so we always had in mind this would be the perfect house for a dog.

We’re also a very stable family, emotionally and economically, and both of us work mostly from home. When I do go to the office, they allow us to bring dogs, and provide dog begs under our desks which is the sweetest thing.

A Beagle was the top dog breeds that are both family friendly and get along with cats (we have the friendliest, very chill cat who doesnt mind being in the presence of dogs or other animals including foxes..(!)), so I couldn’t let this opportunity pass and say that we’d love to meet your pup 🐶

I understand it is a really hard decision to make, so we would leave it up to you if you’d like to meet us and come over with the puppy, and see how it feels.

Surely you should speak to the breeder? In our contract with ours, it was stipulated that the puppy should be offered back to the breeder first before offering the dog anywhere else.

That is assuming that you have bought the dog through official, proper, paperworked channels and not a puppy farm.

If you don't have a breeder, then phone a breed specific rescue centre and do the right thing for the dog - they are not an easy breed.

Seeking some advice ! My work load has jumped and requires me to travel in a few months and I’m currently paying for my 4 month old beagle puppy to go to different dog sitters everyday. Realising this isn’t fair on him I’m considering finding him a lovely local family or experienced dog owners to rehome him. He loves other dogs. Forever toying with the idea and I refuse to sell him online to random people and also don’t want to put him in a dog shelter. But feel I’d be at ease knowing he’s gone to a local lovely family who can run him on the common and give him love. If anyone is interested please message me about yourself or any advice !
