No you do not need the day 2 result.

Depending on your destination though you will probably need a negative test to travel to your next destination.

Appreciate that this is a very first world issue but i am due to be leaving the country on Friday and my day 2 test, taken Sunday is yet to turn up. Can you leave the country without the result? Many thanks for any info offered.
