I have seen this twice now on here and another national forum I browse in the last week.
To request that only ‘qualified’ people can now post on the internet. George Orwell would be proud of you.
There's free speech and then there's sinister conspiracy theories. The thing is, if you believe that the moon landings were faked or that the US government were behind 9/11 then you're an idiot but it doesn't really matter much to the rest of us. If you believe that Covid is a hoax, mask-wearing is a form of social control and that the vaccination is actually to inject us with some sort of mind-control drug (or whatever) then you might not wear a mask, you might not socially distance, you might not care about infecting other people and other people might die. So your post saying that the pandemic is a hoax could actually kill people. And it just means the wretched pandemic goes on longer, and we have to have more controls on our lives. So yes, sometimes a bit of removal of fake news is necessary for the benefit of society, just as you have to wear a seat-belt and you're not allowed to smoke in a restaurant.
No one has even mentioned any conspiracy theories on this thread other than Dudettes wild and slanderous allegations. The only slightly controversial posts question the narrative that we are relentlessly bombarded with from the media 24/7.
It’s a perfectly normal thing for people who have had their lives put on hold for a virus that 99% will survive, 85% of those with no symptoms at all and one that you need a test for most to know we have even had it.
What fuels the conspiracy theories is people demanding censure and control of covid topics when none is required. These methods now been used by some to silence debate have been used time and time again when discussing other controversial topics in the past. Questioning covid is the new ‘bigoted women’ or ‘climate denier’.
