We are moving to Australia later this year so 'i am excited about the 50% rebate.
there is no such rebate here. If your employer offers a childcare voucher scheme you can pay into it monthly out of pre tax earnings and save tax and NI on that amount. great you might think, not really as you can only pay a maximum of £243 in a month if you are a basic rate payer, £124 if you are a higher rate tax payer or £97 if you are an additional rate payer. Both you and your husband could pay in the maximum amount each month, the money can only be transferred to a registered childcare provider and you then make up the difference. Its better than nothing but is a bit out of touch with reality with the extortionate childcare costs in this country, especially London!
