Hi there,

Belleville is looking to open a new school for 2016/17 intake. This is very relevant to all our discussion here.

http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/mums/view ... 15&t=55971

They need some help in the process. Please fill in the form to let them know that you have a child/children expecting to be for those intakes and also helping them find the suitable site. THe site in Nightingale Lane mentioned before is under offer so we might want to half-rule that out.

I will start scouting for a site now, I hope we all can help here.

In response to those trying to work out if the Diamond Conservation Area is in the catchment area for Wix Lane Primary (feeder for Bollingbroke), then the answer is yes!

Are you advertising or shocked by the price?
I'm shocked that a house BTC is under 2 mil.

hi there, just to put all speculations to rest - the LDS church meeting house on Nightingale Lane is NOT for sale and I don't think it will ever be. I would definitely know if it was as I worship there. And as the previous poster pointed out the church - my church - is very wealthy ergo, it is as likely to sell the site as a snowball to survive in hell. I don't know who came up with this notion but it's work of fiction more than a plausible possibility.
Oh and the meeting house doesn't accommodate anyone per se. Missionaries share flats with each other and students are on a 6 week stints of exchange via BYU and live else where. So nobody lives in the meeting house which is beside the point really since that's all irrelevant to the fictional notion of the site changing owners :geek:

I don't post very frequently on this site, but having read the way in which this thread is going feel I have to pitch in.

I really do understand the anxiety and frustration of so many parents who either have tried and failed to get their child into a good state primary school BTC and in the Nightingale Triangle or are worried about the prospect of doing so in the future. It does appear that there just aren't enough state primary places in the area to accommodate the local demand. I do understand why people, who want the very best for their children, will look at avenues to create new free schools - as is being encouraged by the current government.

But, in relation to the recent 'possible school sites' identified by the last few posters, perhaps I might inject a dose of realism before anyone gets too carried away?

1. The Church of the Latter Day Saints, sited on the junction of Nightingale Lane and Ravenslea Road, is just that - a Church. As I understand it, the building also accommodates missionaries and visiting students to the UK. The Mormon Church is incredibly wealthy and is unlikely to give up its Church or surrounding land to build a new state primary. It certainly does not need the money from a sale. Although I would happily stand corrected on this point, I also do not know of any instance when similar land has been compulsorily requisitioned to create a free school. I suspect, in any event, this would be hugely controversial where an actively used Church is involved.

2. There is a site for sale near Clapham South Tube Station - identified by another poster here - and, on paper, this looks like a potential school site. Indeed there may be groups of parents or investors right now looking to create a free school or a new private school there. But, and this is what worries me a little bit about the whole free school process...it is only a stone's throw away from Alderbrook Primary School, a state school which has traditionally had spare places available particularly in KS2. It would be a terrible shame if valuable education resources were devoted to a new free school seconds away from an existing, ever-improving primary (with some capacity) which would no doubt suffer as a result.

So, this is a long winded way of wishing the existing posters on this thread well in their search for great primary school places for their children and potential new school sites, but also suggesting that - as far as free school sites are concerned - they cast their net a little wider.

Back off to watch the football now...

That is The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints and I believe they do hold a number of weekly services there. Whilst the area could do with some more schools, with or without MP signatures, I don't think you can just requisition a place of worship because it's on a great site, but correct me if I'm wrong!.....

Sorry I got the address slightly wrong. It is a massive area surrounding a church that is never visited. Corner of Nightingale, Ravenslea and Bolingbroke. It would make for a perfect school - right opp Wandsworth Common.....Has anyone recommended this site to a MP?

Perhaps at the Northcote Road Fete we should gather signatures to take to the MP/ Council. 100's will be there.

Hey Tilly&Roo, you're right, that is an amazing spot for a new school. It's right next to the night gale end of BTC which is currently out of guaranteed catchment of all the local schools.

I know nothing about starting a new free school but let's hope that someone who does reads this!

Has anyone thought about the church which is the corner of Bolingbrook and Ravenslea Road - the grounds are amazing, large and perfect location. The church is hardly ever used and would make for a fantastic new school location. I would love to hear anyone's feedback!

If anyone is interested in organizing the start up of a new school, this location has just come up on rightmove which would be a great location for a new primary:
