I would also be very interested in bringing Gus Grewal and Tony Williams to justice. Clearly there are many people who have been ripped off by them over the years.

Interested to hear from anyone who has had dealings with Lofts and Extensions. Currently embarking on legal action against them.

I have known Gus Grewal from over 30years ago when he was in business called (Triple i) an alarm company. Him been dodgy started from 30 years ago. The way he conducted the business then was so dubious 30 years ago, so it does not surprise me at all

Tiz: L&E dissolved the morning we took them to court (and won) but as you note a very similar company called Dont Move Extend now exists.

I know of several occasions where the company (under whichever name) has contacted websites hosting negative reviews and threatened to sue them unless the comments are removed. I’ve just had personal experience of this on another site. I wonder if this one will be next...

I would be interested to talk to Poorworkmanship. I have traced the various companies through Companies House. L&E (Loft and extensions) Ltd, company no. 07413531 changed its name to Dont Move Extend Ltd on 12/04/11 (note the lack of apostrophe). On 13/06/17 the company was dissolved. LE Lofts and Extensions, company no. 07358259 was dissolved on 16/02/16. Trafalgar (West London) Ltd, company no. 10757497, was incorporated on 5/05/17. On ll/09/18 it changed it's name to Don't Move Extend Ltd. 

The current website shows Crestward Ltd, co. no 10882214, incorporated on 4/09/19, trading as Don't Move Extend. Tony Williams is the Director of Crestward Ltd. He is also the director of Don't Move Extend Ltd, (previously Trafalgar (West London) Ltd. Gusharnjit Grewal and Anthony Williams are the original directors of this company. On 24/05/19 G Grewal ceased to be a person with significant control. Anthony Williams is now the sole director. 

Were you successful taking them to court? :

I’ve had a very bad experience with L&E and could write a book about the whole nightmare! Would love to link up with anyone considering legal action (which I am already about to embark on) as I think we need to join forces!

Sadly I have had a similar bad experience with L&E. I could write a book! It has cost me a small fortune getting work redone. Currently it’s the ongoing roof problem (which incidentally has leaked from the word go) costing me. I contacted one of the roofing federations for a reputable roofer to carry out a survey and write a report. The roof doesn't comply with current British Standards, cheap materials have been used, the tiles are slipping because no mechanical fittings are in place, nails used are already rusting because they haven’t used galvanised nails and it’s leaking. The work has to be done again. I have other aspects of the build to sort out too e.g. the drains & the vent pipe.

I think they have switched company names recently, transferring over all the original website info and of course they are still operating in and around the area.

I would be very interested to talk privately to anyone who is involved in taking legal action against them!

You could use our builder Lenny @ Hamilton Walters. They done our loft conversion last year from scratch. Their architect Michael and Lenny took care of most of it which was great at the time as I was pregnant and my husband was away working a fair bit at the time so having a company take you from design right through to completion was a pretty stress free and enjoyable experience. It also allowed Lenny to make suggestions throughout which saved me money and time which is always good!

It’s funny, those last four testimonials sound almost like marketing speak. And were written so close together. By people who’ve only ever posted once. Strange...

Based on our experience, we would strongly advise everyone to avoid L&E and their many associated companies or directors (check Companies House for details).

Our experience with Lofts and Extensions (L&E) was fantastic. 

They recently completed a Single Storey Wrap around Extension to our Edwardian property and could not be more pleased. The service is excellent, they deal with everything from Planning applications, architectural drawings, building control through to the final finish. 

The build itself was completed on budget, ahead of time and with a high level finish.

If your looking for a high standard building experience then look no further.
