Have you looked at Loungin on Battersea Rise (next to The Breakfast Club).
They will customise any of their designs to your exact spec. We wanted something of a certain length, depth and was all customised down to the exact placement of buttons on the back cushions. Comparable prices to sofa workshop over the road from them so not extortionate by a long way.
They even somehow got it through the door/ hallway without moaning!

We have just bought a 3 seater sofa and love seat from Sofa.com.
We are really really pleased with them, we found the service was great and the showroom is v good with some nice touches (free drinks/TV area for kids while you browse and they even gave me some coins for my parking).

Another thumbs up for Sofa.com from us but frustrating that they don't do re-covering because ours is pretty grubby now and it is cheaper to replace the sofa entirely, seems crazy.

I recently purchased a storage bench in a fantastic rabbits and cabbages fabric by Thornback and Peel for my daughters room. Sofa.com offer other designer fabrics as well as their own fabulous range so you definitely have more choice than Loaf.

i couldn't fault the customer service. friendly but not pushy staff. Really polite and efficient delivery team and the showroom in Chelsea was an enjoyable day out. My daughter had her face painted whilst I shopped and drank a wonderful latte!

10/10 for Sofa.com

i also have a Loaf bed but unfortunately the bed rails have now broken as the screws pulled out of the cheap fibre board frame under the upholstery. Expensive for what they are.

I've recently bought a three-seater Isla Sofa from Sofa.com Design-wise it's is a nice-cross between modern and classic. Comfy enough for TV dinners, but smart enough for grown-up drinks. V Pleased :D

I also looked at Loaf, but I'd say Sofa.com has got more of an eye when it comes to fabric. Plenty of eye-popping raspberry velvets, but also play-it-safe neutrals. There was a special offer on designer fabric at the time. I went for Colefax and Fowler...in a safe grey!

The delivery service was fantastic -- the delivery men made a great effort not to scratch any paintwork, and were v. friendly and polite. You can choose the finish of the sofa legs (oak, birch, metallic etc) which is a nice touch.

I'd say there was more choice of design at Sofa.com than at Loaf -- from modern everyday, to trad Chesterfields to retro pieces. Quality seems as good as John Lewis.

Hope that helps! Think from time-to-time they have special discounts on some products, might be worth looking out for...

I would be interested also to hear views on this. I am about to order a sofa and mattress from loaf. A friend bought a sofa a few years ago and had an issue with it and she said Loaf were great in replacing it instantly with no hassle.

Try OKA, I have bought quite a lot from them & I have been very impressed with all of it, either them or John Lewis.

I haven't bought a sofa or bed through Loaf but I have bought a dining table and chair set through them, about 18 months ago. I did not have a great experience with them and wouldn't recommend them - really wish I had gone with John Lewis instead. They did not deliver on the date promised, their delivery men arrived late when they rescheduled and also made a huge mess with the styrofoam while unpacking the furniture and then told me it wasn't their job to tidy up their mess. We subsequently discovered that the table hadn't been installed properly 2 weeks later when two table legs fell off when my husband tried to move the table to another side of the reception room.

It was a nightmare to get through to anyone as Loaf won't publicise their direct number so you end up waiting for ages on their central phone line which doesn't get answered anyway. They also have the world's most irritating soundtrack running while you wait to speak to one of their "loafers" - a dog continuously barking with a bird tweeting. They were pretty hopeless on the e-mail too - wouldn't respond to e-mails at all. It took a very harshly worded e-mail and follow up complaint on their Facebook page to get them to replace the table, which arrived 6 weeks after the original table broke. The replacement table also had a chip in it when it arrived but by that stage, I was sick of dealing with them and couldn't bear the thought of dealing with them again.

I like our table and chairs, but to be honest, I think their furniture is overpriced for what it is and their customer service is appalling. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Loaf vs. Sofa.com?

Hi all,

My husband and I are moving to the Abbeville Village in August, and we need to buy several sofas and beds.

We've looked at both Sofa.com and Loaf - both seem good but reviews of Loaf maybe a bit more mixed.

Have you bought sofas / beds from either of these places and, if so, what would you recommend?

Thanks!
