These were brilliant recommendations. We decided on a sofa, armchairs and footstool from Love Your Home in Goldalming. Such a beautiful range and lovely service. Very pleased all round, so thank you all for your input in helping us decide :)

Barker and Stonehouse.
We got our new sofa from them a few months ago. Great sofa, very sturdy, great quality fabric, and super comfy.
Also, it was a good price, compared to Sofa Workshop and John Lewis, for the same size sofa.

Barker and Stonehouse run regular sales - so worth maybe waiting for them. Store managers seem to be able to give 5% extra discount if you ask. IMHO if the sofa is at full price, I would try to get the price down 15-20% - I think there's a high likelihood they are able to do sofas at that discount off the full price.

Amazing, thank you! I haven't found a single day where I have time to go and look so aiming to in July.

If you haven’t decided yet, I would recommend E A Wates for sofas, armchairs etc. They have a huge showroom and parking at the back. They are based in the Furzedown area between Tooting Bec and Streatham.

thank you, they look great and so much choice. I do like the contemporary styles a lot as well as the the traditional. We have a very narrow hallway in a Victorian terrace so the getting the sofa in and out is a must.
One thing I learnt from the Willow and Hall website was that feather wrapped foam which Loaf do is what makes them baggy and will need to be re-plumped whereas they also offer firmer options. They do reflex foam and siliconized hollow fibre which are firmer and keep their shape with less maintenance to keep their look. All stuff to consider, shape vs comfort.
Thank you so much. the search will begin this week :)

Hi

Loungin also gets my vote too. I wanted something contemporary and smart and not too low or deep and just couldn't find what I wanted. Loungin do made to measure and with a promo it came to the same price as the other options that I looked at - Loaf, Sofa Workshop, Sofa.com, Laura Ashely et al. Am really, really pleased with my new sofa. It's super comfy, looks smart and I don't need a crane or hoist to get our of it!

Thanks for more recommendations. Now to find the time to look.
Yes, I did think the Loaf ones looked quite saggy actually and wanted something a bit smarter looking if that's the right way of putting it. But would love something with the same level of comfort. Loaf use feather around the foam in the seat cushions whixh make them so. I almost ordered from the ladbroke grove shop but had a hunch about it and a year has passed. Thank you for your feedback :)

I recently took delivery of a sofa from Loaf and after much wrangling with their customer service department, I’ve just had it taken back and refunded. It was so saggy when it turned up it looked like it was 10 tears old, not brand new.

To replace it I’ve bought a similar one from Sofa.com and the quality is far superior. I’d definitely overrule your husband on the sofa.com vs Loaf argument if you can as their sofas seem a much better product for a similar price point.

Loungin on Battersea Rise has some nice options and seems quite high quality.

I remember H J Cooper from when I lived near it and popped in a few times. Thank you for reminding me of it and good to hear you and many you know are pleased with them. I will definitely have a look there too.

For the best value and service check out H J Cooper on the Upper Richmond Road in Putney. They will custom make virtually any sofa to your spec and cost far less than most high street stores. I have a sofa from them as do my whole family and virtually all my friends!!

You must go to Love Your Home. www.love-your-home.co.uk. Its a lovely drive into the Surrey countryside about 40 mins from Clapham down the A3. They have a beautiful range of sofas and are so friendly and helpful. The quality seems really good and prices are on a par with sofa.com I asked about making one of the sofas as a corner style sofa and they said it wasn't a problem. Definitely worth a look. Lovely fabrics too.
