As some of you know I have, for the last few years, organised meet ups for local au pairs.
I try to do about two a month, very casual and just a chance for au pairs to meet others. I email host families and encourage them to put in their diary if they can and hopefully they can encourage their au pairs to go along to meet others, either welcoming new au pairs or making new friends themselves.
We have had as many as 75 turn up but more usually between 15 and 25. Historically they have been a great source of friendships for our au pairs.
Just so I'm open to you all I started it as a way of introducing my au pair to others locally and it's grown from that. I have no invested interest, I'm not selling anything, I don't run an agency and I'm afraid I don't have a network of ready to arrive amazing au pairs!
The au pairs meet in different places and my au pair goes with a balloon to help everyone meet up but also the pub/bar always know who they are so au pairs just need to ask at the bar where the au pair group is located.
I have made two January dates and hope this will be helpful to any new au pairs, and of course the returning au pairs.
Future dates for the diary
14th January - The Roundhouse, 2 North Side Wandsworth Common, SW18 2SS
29th January - Ben's Canteen (who very kindly give a discount for our au pairs) 422 Garratt Ln, SW18 4HW
7.30 onwards for all au pairs to meet others and interact.
Please do tell your friends and suggest they sign up to this email if they are a host family. The link to sign up for the emails is
