I used to hear a deep humming noise which sounded electrical, I'm surprised to learn it could be just from the passage of fluid through a sewer system. This was many years ago; when I asked around, it was suggested that it might have something to do with ventilation tunnels being built in connection with Crossrail, but I note that this is still just an idea, not yet a reality.

If you Google it, it seems that this has plagued residents of many parts of the UK (not just S/SW London), with no concrete explanation as yet. 

I would love to know the conclusive answer.

To record where the vibrations are coming from you will need a seismic recorder that has sensors which are fixed to a number of locations in the ground and on walls.This is a very expensive device and must be set up at the location by someone that understands it and how to interpret the recorded readings received.
It is possible to rent one but would be better if you could ask tunneling company to have someone install one for a short time.
Another short term solution would be to rent a multi channel digital sound recorder and place microphones which would give a high quality 3d type of sound when played back through amplifiers of exactly what was recorded.Might be possible to also play into seismograph showing seismic readings but would need skilled operator to interpret.

I have been going mad with these underground vibrations, and it's only now that I finally find someone online who can feel them!
Can you still feel them now? I felt them start exactly on 1/8/21 at 6.00pm, on the dot. (I don't live in your area but in E1). They stopped in November, and I thought it'd be it finally, but in December it started worse than ever. I feel nauseous, can't sleep properly, it wakes me up at night when I do finally fall asleep, and it does seem like being on a boat on rough sea. I am also getting frequent headaches.
It's a constant tremor, with some sideways lurches every now and then. Occasionally stops for 15-20 minutes, then starts again, and I find it particularly bad between 5pm and 5am. It's the equivalent of a pneumatic drill, without the noise, just the vibrations.
I don't have the tube below, and in any case, as you already pointed out, it's not a tube noise, with trains coming and going. And the tube has been there for decades, not since 1/8/21. I started thinking of tunnelling.

I have contacted some companies: TFL and Crossrail don't have any tunnelling going on at the moment, but London Power Tunnels does. Do a search of their name and map or route, and you'll find a map of their tunnelling all below you in South London. I have exchanged emails with them, and obvi they deny that their tunnelling can be felt by humans (I guess that makes us aliens then), let alone in E1, even though they admitted starting a new tranche (or circuit like they call it) of digging in August, exactly like I felt it happen.  

Are you still feeling these vibrations? We could share the information we have; I could share the emails they sent, and perhaps can find a few more people that feel this.  I would like to be able to find some way of measuring and recording this vibrations, like ronangel suggests, finding out exactly who it is, London power tunnels or others; and ideally be able to obtain a legal way to stop them working at night.


 

The river Northcote runs along the Northcote road at a depth of about 70 ft used to be streams where the roads off it are through the fields feeding it 200 years ago. above it now at the south end is the flood sewer system which prevents flooding on the Northcote Road in heavy rain which was put in a few years ago, you can hear the water at various metal covers at the junction with roads running off broomwood road on the hill.

This system is probably where the noise is coming from via vibrations in old sewers maybe blockages water going over or around. Or even from old water mains in general.

This is what I think but not an expert in this field but have found it to be so in other parts of London. Years ago after putting in microphones to find the source of sound believed to be electrical but was found to be water-related.

I have felt this on Lavender Hill and always think I’m going mad when I do! It does go on for ages and happens at all hours of the night - would love to know what it is!

Has anyone else noticed ground vibration late at night along the Northcote Road?. Some nights it is so bad lying in bad that I start feeling sea sick. It's not the passing of a train as it goes on for much longer than this- hours in fact.
