Are you questioning your child’s education? Is your school right for your child?

Are you questioning your child’s education? Is your school right for your child?

Are you dissatisfied with the education your child is receiving?  Are you worried about the increasing number of children suffering from mental illness at school? Have you ever considered the potential benefits of home-schooling?

One positive thing that has come out of Covid-19, is the fact that parents/guardians have been so much more involved in their child’s education; and many, for the first time, are not liking what they are seeing or experiencing. There is a growing demand for a change in education; a movement away from the Victorian style of education that has dominated the UK for the last century, towards a more vibrant and child centred 21st century form of education.

Many parents are now choosing to educate their children at home, or with an online school. Do not think that you are alone! In 2018-2019 there were an estimated 60,544 children being home-schooled (although probably many more); experts believe that this will rise to 300,000 by 2025.

Many parents have also reached out to Sophia High School, asking for guidance and expert advice. This is why we wanted to share an article written by David McCarthy, Sophia High School's Director of Education, addressing the challenges, concerns, solutions and opportunities of remote learning:
