Re: School fee rebates

I agree with Moonlightdawn. Same at our school - last time round we did get a rebate and there was some parent discussion, but I've not heard anything this time round and it's not an issue being raised. The staff are working incredibly hard and have had to forgo their normal holidays and are also wo...

Re: ADD/ADHD - diagnosis recommendation

My 7 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD in the summer. We saw Dr Ben Ko privately through the London Children's Practice and had any necessary face to face appointments at their Sloane Square clinic. The whole process only took a few months, as opposed to when I phoned St George's ADHD service who...

Re: Can't afford a second set of schools fees, not sure what will be least harmful

As hard as it is, your oldest is only six and has many more years left at school than she has already completed. Private school is expensive - the fees tend to go up each year and they get more expensive as they get older. Plus the trips and activities can be costly and are not subsidised by PTAs. I...

Re: How do you choose a hospital?

Kingston hospital is also an option - it's much smaller and more personal than the bigger hospitals, which is what I wanted and I managed to secure a private room afterwards. I had all my antenatal care at St Mary's in Roehampton - which was easy as well.  I had my second child at home through St Ge...

Re: Moving to Wandsworth

It's quite quiet round there - am presuming you mean the huge development of flats near the river? You'd only a be a few minutes walk from the shopping centre at Southside and Garratt Lane, a few minutes walk to the Old York Road High Street and a short bus journey to Putney. Wandsworth Park is grea...

Re: Trick or Treating??

I agree with other posters and can’t see how trick or treating can go ahead at all in any form this year. Even putting out pumpkins and decorating houses will encourage lots of people all out on the streets at the same time to view them. The streets are always heaving with people - including lots of...

Re: Which London schools gave live lessons during lockdown?

I think most private schools moved their lessons online to be honest. My children are at The Roche and all their lessons moved online - live Maths, English, Science/Topic/PHSE, Art, Reasoning, Music, Story Time etc and assemblies and sports challenges plus extra work that could be done outside of th...

Re: Looking for Roche School KS2 uniform (y5/6)

If you are a current parent I would advise sending a message on Classlist.

Re: Laser Tag party recommendations

I also booked them for my son's 6th birthday and they were really great. It was non stop action from the minute the kids arrived, with games and dodgeball before the laser tag itself and lots of high energy music when they were shooting their targets, to keep the competition side of the party up. At...

Re: Looking for a tap dancing teacher

I think you might struggle to find someone to come to your home as you need plenty of space for tap and also the right floor surface (very hard wearing). I certainly wouldn't let my daughter do her tap dancing on our floors at home! Plenty of dance schools offer Saturday lessons if you do a google s...

Jeweller recommendation for valuation and restoration

I have inherited a Sapphire ring from my Grandmother which I believe is more than 100 years old. Can anyone recommend an excellent jeweller who could provide a valuation and clean/restore it?

Thank you.

Re: Hockey clubs for 8yr old

Worth also trying The Wimbledon Club. My daughter is also on the waiting list for the two clubs you mention, but has just started with TWC instead.

Re: Roche Nursery Views

I have two children at The Roche - one now in year 4 and the other in year 1. The youngest went to the nursery at the main school site for a year before reception and we couldn't have been happier. The curriculum is varied and stimulating and he loved it so much we had to drag him away from nursery ...

Re: Best Santa's Grotto in/near London

Have done Bocketts, Chessington garden Centre and Painshill before, but our favourite has been Crockford Bridge Farm. It’s so lovely - they take you on an immersive theatrical journey through a small wood and you get to meet Father Christmas at the end. Was really well done and the kids loved it!
