Re: 5-11 CHILDREN'S COVID VACCINES - would you put your child anywhere near them ?

My daughter will have hers when she can.  Having had covid she will have to wait for the requisite 12 weeks after recovery.  Despite being fit and healthy my daughter was more ill than me when we both caught covid and I had had my 2 doses and a booster (and I am not young but over 50 so technically ...

Anyone interested in a 7+ exams support group?

I am starting to prepare my daughter for a 7+ independent school entry exam next winter and I am interested in forming a support group with other local families who are preparing a child for 7+ school entrance exams next winter.  I hope we may be able to give one another some moral support and excha...

Re: A baby at 40

I have a seven year gap between my two and had my second in my late forties. I am, perhaps, fortunate, in that I had smooth pregnancies with both my children and relatively easy births. The challenges I encountered have been: a) doctors wanting to over-medicalize the birth because of my age (I ended...

Re: Estate agent contracts and vulnerable mother in law

Yes, thanks Wheresmyschool, you confirmed what I thought. I have told her to put her foot down and say she won't go ahead until they send her a draft contract so she can get family members to look at it! One of them has now agreed to do this.

Estate agent contracts and vulnerable mother in law

My Mother-in-Law wants to sell her home soon and has shortlisted two estate agents she is happy with. She told them both she wanted to see the draft contract so she could get my husband or me to check it over before she signs. Both have told her she has to go into their office to sign the contract a...

Re: Breastfeeding help - first time mum in Wimbledon

I really rate Clare Byam Cook and she is local, based in Putney. You can visit her at her home or she can come to you for a higher fee. Good luck.

Re: First time mum question! Does a pram need bedding?

That footmuff looks like it is meant for a buggy (for 6 months plus) rather than a pram. I suggest layering with blankets and a padded top cover/quilt plus a waterproof cover to protect from the rain. Layers will allow you to make adjustments without having to wake your baby up when it's sleeping (i...

Re: Thomas's School - too late?

As suggested by others you are best off registering with several schools and you should get in somewhere but it will be down to luck to some extent which school (s) offer you a place and when. You are likely to be too late to be guaranteed a place at Hornsby too but not too late to have some chance ...

Re: Northcote House vs Baby Room vs KU Chatham

I have a daughter at the Baby Room Webbs road and have been pleased with it overall. It is smaller than Northcote House so you might love or hate the differences depending on your preferences. If you want to ask me specific questions after your visit then you can PM me. Also, if you are looking arou...

Re: Au pair and housework!

In my experience Au Pairs don't read manuals properly. Unless your au pair has unusually good English you are likely to find that many things in the manual are ignored because they didn't read them or only read as much as they needed to to convince you to hire them! Therefore, don't rely on a manual...

Re: Beware-moped muggings in SW area.

There are too many signs at the moment that the police need the 'up their game'. The criminals must be realising they are not even going to be pursued/investigated. If you don't take action to stamp it out it will get worse. Wandsworth is starting to feel a bit 'lawless'.

Re: Babyroom webbs road + general advice on when to change nursery

I have a child in the same nursery and we've been there for a couple of years. Firstly, at your daughter's age settling in at nursery can be hard and it is also an age when they can go through clingy phases (younger, before 8 months is better). Therefore it is difficult to say that things would be a...

Re: Nursery funding

I am very interested to hear this too (and concerned!) as I will have a child due to start nursery in Sept and was hoping for the help of the government funding. I thought there had been proposals to raise the rate paid to nurseries to make it more realistic (although maybe not realistic enough for ...

Re: Marmalade Cat or École du Parc

I know of a couple of children at Thomas's who went to Ecole de Parc so I wouldn't be concerned that you are closing any doors by choosing this nursery.

I am very interested in the comments about private nurseries losing their grant though as I had not heard of this!

Re: How many former Tory voters in Battersea or Merton will be voting differently this time?

I have been fairly middle ground in my politics throughout my life so have voted labour at times (e.g. for the Blairite government) and Tory more recently. Generally I take a good look at the policies of the parties before deciding and I also gave plenty of thought before casting my vote during the ...
