Re: Brother has asked that we stand down on presents can I still buy them without causing offeence?

I also would not do presents.

There will surely be other ways you can treat your niece and nephew - have them to stay and take them out somewhere special for example - then your brother would hopefully not feel obliged to reciprocate in the same way as he might feel with presents.

Re: Hatched on St John's Hill

Agree! We’ve been twice fairly recently and had a really excellent meal both times.

Re: After school nanny eating our food

I think it depends what hours the nanny is working. If she’s there across lunchtime I would expect to provide lunch. Dinner, well I guess it depends on her finish time - if she finishes at 6/6.30 and doesn’t have a long commute then I would probably expect her to eat at home, but I’d be happy for he...

Re: table manners fro pre schoolers

At school they won’t make the whole table wait for the few slow eaters. The slow eaters tend to learn that they get more playtime if they hurry up. So maybe your sister in law is doing your child a favour by getting him used to this idea before school? I would suggest encouraging your little one to ...

Re: Good brand of knives?

Sorry to add yet another option but I would highly recommend Wusthof’s Classic range. Be careful with recommendations for just a brand without the range, as most brands have various levels - so someone may recommend a brand based on their top level or mid level range, but the entry level may be no g...

Re: Robust swimming pool

Hi Henry, possibly too late now the heatwave has passed but I have an Intex frame pool 3x2m which I’m selling- I bought the wrong size and it’s too big for my teeny garden sadly. I also have a cover for it. Used once only and now clean and dismantled. PM me if interested?

Re: Children’s party halls for hire

Hi, have a look at the Romany Scout Hut off Lyford Road. I’ve never used it personally as a party venue but it has a big garden.

Or Naturescope on Wandsworth Common has a smaller garden area out front.

Re: How to find a playgroup

I saw a sign at St Luke’s church advertising their playgroup recently. Thursday afternoons I believe. There always used to be one in Balham Baptist Church on Ramsden Rd and one in The Ascension Church on Malwood Road. And the Playhouse Playgroup at the Romany off Wandsworth Common. But I don’t know ...
