Re: TfL changes to A24 Balham High Road

Denwand - We are on Burntwood Lane directly opposite the roundabout and entrance to Beechcroft Road and the first we knew about it was the sign going up. These changes seem to be made with absolutely no consultation or care for residents. My friend on Beechcroft Road had no idea either. This alongsi...

Re: TfL changes to A24 Balham High Road

I found a link! https://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/news/august-2020/three-new-low-traffic-neighbourhood-pilot-schemes-for-tooting/ It's been chaos outside of our house all afternoon. The sign in the road keeps getting knocked over by 4x4's (maybe it is too low for them?), then it gets run over by a few o...

Re: A-LEVEL ROUND UP: Congratulations to our schools on A level results

I am so sorry to hear of the devastating affect that the 'algorithm' has had on our wonderful state schools though. How awful. To put something in place that lifts the results of the private/fee paying schools and then lowers the grades of those who have worked their socks off in states schools, jus...

Re: TfL changes to A24 Balham High Road

Does anyone know where you can see a map of all the changes taking place in Wandsworth? A road closure/access only sign has gone up on Beechcroft Road (I live opposite) but it is the first we have heard anything about it. I'm guessing, yet again, that Burntwood Lane is just meant to take the brunt o...

Re: Users and residents of Burntwood Lane - Much needed changes to speed restrictions and road layout.

Agreed @juliantenniscoach the cycle lane is a mess too. Bad for the cyclists but also for the pedestrians as it runs across areas where pedestrians attempt to cross the road. It is so important that this road gets some serious TLC. Please do sign the petition and spread the word. So many people use ...

Re: Users and residents of Burntwood Lane - Much needed changes to speed restrictions and road layout.

Hi Denwand, How nice of you to reply. It's great to have your support. 1. Bellevue Road is also a bus route and a B road and is 20mph as are many other roads around the borough. 2. I stated above that speed bumps are not the solution and no one is requesting them. 3. If 30 is the limit then drivers ...

Re: 11 plus

Goodness, what a rotten school. Poor her and you. No advice I'm afraid other than perhaps find a school better suited to you both rather than hanging on in a not particularly helpful environment. Kids are all different, with differing skills, abilities and needs. She may well flourish somewhere else...

Re: Schools Admitting More Pupils

Tigger, Belleville is not an Ark school. It is a part of the Q1E trust. I have a child in Year 6 and also 2 in Year 3 and I have been very happy with the home learning and also the very safely managed return to school for Year 6. I am self-employed and obviously struggling to work with twins at home...

Re: Advice on moving from Clapham

Depending upon your budget buying off the Northcote Road is great for a community feel and brilliant schools but it is REALLY pricey for what you get in terms of sq ft! Being close to Clapham Junction is great for Waterloo and Victoria. Wandsworth Common is lovely and there is a larger range in hous...

Re: What's your school doing re: opening 1 June?

I have 3 kids at Belleville spread over year 3 and year 6 and I have been really impressed with their approach. The kids have had loads to do covering core subjects as well as extra curricular activities should they wish. Most importantly for me though there hasn't been lots of pressure for them to ...
