Re: Can anyone lend some skiing gear today for a 6/7 y old and an adult? Tips for first skiing with young kids?

Two words. Club Med! A ski-in, ski-out set-up with plenty food and drink available all day. Tons of stuff to do for kids and adults inside the hotel. The kids club staff can get them dressed for skiing, supervise meal times etc. if that’s what you choose. Morning and afternoon lessons included with ...

Has anyone found out which basement company was carrying out the work?

Re: Giving access to upstairs neighbour carrying out a loft conversion

Please PM me? I’ve been in exactly the same position as you. I owned the downstairs flat and front and back gardens. Upstairs neighbour acquired the freehold (secretly. But that’s another story) He then informed me he was doing a loft conversion and would be erecting scaffolding front and rear. He a...

Re: 5* Gold barn, North Norfolk 9 guests (inc home cinema)

I just have to add that we had a few days at Blue Tile Farm Barn in the summer and it's absolutely stunning. North Norfolk is a wonderful place to visit. Loads to do - gorgeous pubs, golden beaches, perfect villages, country fairs, stately homes with mazes, playgrounds and coffee shops, boat rides t...

Re: Qualitas Basements - disdain for residents

Estbury are no better. They used to regularly cut metal on the pavement with an angle-grinder, sending sparks flying over the pavement, road and all the neighbours' cars. Sometimes I'd be trapped in my house until they finished as I didn't fancy getting grind metal in my eye. We all asked them to st...

Re: Car Break Ins off Northcote

There have been several reports of moped gangs in the area. I saw one for myself in the summer on Leathwaite Rd; all dressed in black, no number plates, black ski masks. A few weeks ago a friend reported a moped gang scouring the streets outside the BTC prep schools at pick-up time, using torches to...

Re: Estbury basements, London basement company

Estbury has recently finished a dig next door to us and our house (when it stops moving!) is going to need a whole load of repairs, redecorating and even a new front door. If you're a terraced house you must factor in those costs when you're doing your budget.

Re: Recommendations for damp proofing?

Have you found the cause of the damp? In these houses, all too often previous owners have made the outside level too high (by laying slabs on top of old slabs etc) When the outside level is higher than the original damp proof course you'll get damp walls. If this is the case, the best solution is to...

Re: Beware-moped muggings in SW area.

I reported 4 youths on 3 mopeds a couple of weeks ago, at 5pm on a weekday, speeding down Leathwaite Rd in close convoy. It was about 90degrees and they were wearing shorts, t-shirts and black ski masks. Just their eyes showing. I had registered with the 999 text service so I texted full details to ...

Targeting BMWs again?

Hi all, Last week, whilst parked a few metres from our house, our BMW X5 had its lock barrel drilled out and taken. The alarm didn't go off and we don't think they got in to the car but it's obviously caused us a load of hassle. The car had to be recovered and stored securely until the new lock arri...

Au Pair Needed

Hi Posting on here in the hope that some local au pair needs to find a new family or is looking for a family for her friend. Our lovely au pair has to return home in a couple of weeks so we are looking for a new au pair to come and join our family. We live just off Northcote Rd, Battersea, SW11, so ...

Re: Where to stay West Wittering?

Hi The Witterings are really uncommercial (& therefore unspoilt) but this does mean there is a lack of hotel accommodation. Crouchers is about the only hotel on the peninsula but it is about 3 miles from the beach. The Beach House in West Wittering village is a stylish, New England clapboard cafe/re...

Re: Help Artex Ceiling

The ideal situation would have been if your surveyor picked up on it before you exchanged. We were in the process of buying a property with a few artex ceilings. We paid for an asbestos test as part of the survey process and discovered that the artex did indeed contain asbestos. It's perfectly safe ...

Re: Skiing Advice: Canada with Toddler in Late Season

Went to Whistler with the kids last Christmas. It is undoubtedly the best ski resort in the world. There were 7m of snow in the first 5wks of the season last year. Most mornings we'd wake up to 30cm of fresh powder. Our kids, 8 & 6 at the time, did Adventure camp. We dropped them at 0830 every morni...
