Re: Bed - where to buy

Another vote for Button and Sprung. We have two beds from there - both super comfy, great quality and reasonably priced.

Re: Recommend sash windows which open both top and bottom? PVC and wood

Hi - I recommend speaking to Sashed. They do all sorts of windows, not just sash and are very reasonable and great quality. They only do timber windows but these are so much better than PVC (which are hideous in my humble opinion!)https://www.sashed.com

Re: Can't affford a house near Northcote Rod. Where next? Tooting or Colliers Wood?

A friend of mine moved from Clapham to New Malden to bring up her kids. There are a bunch of roads there with names of trees and it looks like a lovely friendly area. Her kids did very well at local schools and you’d be on the train line to Clapham Junction if you want to come back and visit your fr...

Re: Swimming pools showroom

Years ago there was one in Ewell but no idea if it’s still there. I would say North Surrey is your best bet.

Re: Cream for dry itchy skin

Salcura products are all very good and use natural ingredients - no nasties like you get in most commercial brands. You should also look at whatever washing products you’re using. In particular steer clear of anything containing SLS (sodium laureth sulphate) as this is an industrial strength cleaner...

Re: How to get elderly parents to accept support in particular a cleaner.

Why don’t you have a chat with Ashley at One Stop Organisers? She is hugely experienced in helping the elderly live their best lives, and could help with sorting out the exact things that will make their lives easier without them feeling they’re being patronised or losing control. https://www.onesto...

Re: Family-Friendly Travel Destinations for Summer 2024

When my kids were 6 and 8 we went to Borneo. Had a great time. The Shangri-La near the airport (Tanjung Aru) has a fun little water park. Then we went to visit an island where we saw turtles laying eggs (and hatching), then to an orang utan sanctuary and then we went down the Kinabantangan River whe...

Re: Stay and pay for private secondary or move homes? (Sutton/Clapham)

A 30 minute commute to secondary school is really not that much. Secondary schools (especially independent ones) have much larger catchment areas than private schools. Terraced houses in the Between the Commons area tend to go for £1.5m and over so you're looking at around £100k just in stamp duty. ...

Re: Maternity services

I would say don’t underestimate the journey to the hospital when you’re in labour! So much of people’s experience is down to the individual midwife/ consultants who care for you and everyone’s birth story is different so it’s very hard to judge which are the “best” hospitals. Go and visit a few and ...

Re: Kitchen sink incinerators?

We have had them since the kids were born and now they’re adults they still have all their fingers and thumbs! They’re designed so that they don’t work unless they have a plug in them. They’re useful for clearing away scraps but now that we’re getting the new bins I would have thought we have less r...

Clematis Montana is very speedy. It might get a bit out of hand quite quickly but will do the job in the short term.

Re: Buy a flat or invest small inheritance?

There’s a lady I know called Catherine Simmonds who runs a wealth management business called Mentmore Financial Planning. She has won numerous awards for her work and is very lovely so definitely worth a chat just to give you an idea of other options in the table.
