Re: Hillbrook Primary

Hillbrook has been rated outstanding for over 2 years. Previously, it was rated good by Ofsted. It may not be the school you wanted, but on paper it looks like an excellently performing school. http://www.hillbrookschool.org.uk/Parents/Ofsted-Report-Results/ Go and visit it with an open mind. Look a...

Re: Did you get your first choice secondary?

Yes it is our closest school and it was our first choice but the catchment area is tiny. I'm not sure what your alternatives are if you live in Earlsfield. As far as I know, there don't seem to be any secondary free schools planned for the area so I don't know how the increased primary school popula...

Re: Did you get your first choice secondary?

We got 1st choice, a sibling place at Graveney (very lucky I know). Some surprises amongst my son's Year 6 classmates, though with quite a few not getting 1st, 2nd or even 3rd choices and a couple we know of being allocated a school right on the otherside of the borough that they hadn't even applied...

Re: Furzedown Primary School

I can't tell you if it is one of the best Primaries in Tooting, but I can share my experience with you. All my children have attended Furzedown primary. It’s a 2 form entry primary and most of the intake live locally so it reflects the local community. It has a good community feel, a very active and...

Re: Penwortham or Furzedown school

Yes, you’re right to go and visit both schools to get a feel. Both schools have their fans and their critics! I have friends who work in both schools and friends with kids at both schools – all of whom seem quite happy where they are. Penwortham is the bigger school, a large Victorian building with ...

Re: Which primary school? Chesterton

I have friends who work at Chesterton so I can tell you what I know from them. It's an excellent school with specialist music and PE teachers and they have an artist who spends a day every week in school and the children have produced art work related to their topics which they displayed in a galler...

Re: Tooting Bec Primary School Options

I know this is easier said than done but try to think of what the school has to offer your child for the whole of their primary years, as you will find the reception year will fly by. For example, Hillbrook has a lovely field – lots of outside space for playtimes, whereas Tooting Primary has a tiny ...

Re: HELP!! any ideas for 9 year old boy's birthday party?

We have just held a Nerf Gun party for our 9 year old which he and his friends claimed was the best party ever! It was very easy too. I used a company, recommended by a friend, called Nerf Gun Parties (0208 460 8853) and booked a church hall. They arrived with a van full of different Nerf guns and bu...

Re: Play date

I don't know if you are aware of Contact a Family - Wandsworth. They provide support for families and carers of disabled children and they hold drop in play sessions and also have an autism support group. My friend has used this with her older child with autism and found it invaluable in terms of ad...

Will Wandsworth have enough secondary school places?

I read the previous post about building 8 new classrooms at Sheringdale School to accommodate extra 30 extra children every year with interest – this is great news for parents of 4s and under in Southfield. However, am I alone in wondering where these and all the other children who have filled the p...

When the gates open - don;t stop at first rides you come to but instead go to the far...
