Re: Home schooling

Home schooling is a big responsibility and you need to be informed about what’s expected if you already are doing it. There are forums and groups you should be able to find online. You should read the curriculum and what’s expected for each stage in KS1. Then you have the freedom to do it in a more ...

Re: Should curtains be this expensive?

Does it have to be made to measure?
If you look around you can get lucky and find a near perfect match.
Or try to reduce costs by doing half maybe.
I thought I had to do made to measure for my loft space and ended up finding something that fits so perfectly it looks like it was MTM.

Re: Brilliant idea to reduce waste and lower cost of giving gifts at childrens’ birthdays - Fiver parties – anyone tried

You can buy blank cards and envelopes, kids can wire and decorate them but much nicer than using a regular A4. I never buy individual cards anymore for parties, we get a massive box with a selection online at the fraction of the price and the cards are lovely. For parties, I never give any tat, only...

Re: In-laws voted leave. They've removed my children's freedom of movement and I can't cope with seeing them any longer.

Hold the horses guyD73! Step back for a second. Some perspective is needed. it’s very clear from your longs posts that you are a passionate and also a highly strung person and this clouding your judgement. So, you discuss your children’s freedom of movement which , may I remind you, is still a hypot...

Re: Thomas's vs. Broomwood

Visit and make up your own opinion is probably the best advice. Pros and cons are relative and subjective either way.

Re: Afterschool nanny - cost per hour?

That’s not bad, do you get a replacement if your nanny is ill given that it’s via an agency?

Afterschool nanny - cost per hour?

how much does it cost roughly per hour for an afterschool nanny?
Do you pay from the pick up time onwards?
Do people find this solution works or is it a stress as you depend on one person not being ill compared to a nursery pick up for example.

Re: Unauthorised Absence from School

Chorister, What a silly comment...seriously The state’s decision to place school above family is a bad one IMO. As long as a child is a a good student and a good attendance in general i don’t think the OTT strict rules are necessary. Funeral is the only allowed leave and wedding if you are lucky . O...

Re: Recommendation for restaurant suitable for Kids

Choose a place you want to go to and then make sure to bring your own entertainment for kids, stickers/pens etc if they don’t have it. Then you will get more exciting food than pizza .... if you do want a kid friendly basic restaurant there are loads in central London Wagamama is good for both adult...

Re: Anyone had both an elected c section and natural birth?

Hi, It must feel daunting, but your body is designed to cope and prepare your body for birth. You will find as many horror stories as amazing birth stories. It’s very very unpredictable, nobody can predict the outcome of any birth. Therefore, it’s best to not worry. What really helped me was the sim...

Re: Guess what Northcote House Nursery has done this time to make themselves ever more miserable...

Thanks sea hibiscus And NVHusband, I was commenting honestly based on my personal experience. Just like I do on every other post. I was motivated by feeling that the nursery left me feeling really let down and disappointed. So do people “hide” when a negative comment but OK to be anonymous if a posi...

Re: Guess what Northcote House Nursery has done this time to make themselves ever more miserable...

So glad I’m done and dusted with that disaster of a nursery! My biggest regret is not taking my child out when I seriously considers it a year before she had to start school. Thought it was too much of a change and kept with it and it only got WORSE AND WORSE. Every single member of staff left one m...
