Front door refurbishment recommendations?

I'm looking for a carpenter that can refurbish my perfectly good original front door, door frame and fan light with effective draught insulation and potentially some new glazing.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Re: Clapham Manor Primary School

Both my children have attended this school (my daughter is now at secondary and my son is in year 5) and I would highly recommend it.  There's a lot of emphasis on the wellbeing of the children and they have bent over backwards to support my son who hates going to school (he's never asked to leave C...

Re: Making a Will

After a failed attempt with a will writing company that visited us at home (we ended up quite confused and overwhelmed by all the other things the representative told us we might want to consider having in place e.g. funeral insurance) we used Amaya Huntley at Hanne & Co. They are based at The O...

Re: Au pair and housework!

I explained in my ad broadly what was expected (that they help out as any additional adult in the house would be expected to) and then sent them a copy of my manual/guide once we'd found someone we liked to be sure they knew what was expected. Admittedly we didn't have the manual first time round as...

Re: New kitchen / hot tap

We got a quooker boiling water tap eight years ago - it was my 'indulgence' when we fitted our kitchen (my husband got ceiling speakers!) and if we were to renovate a kitchen again it would be in the 'essentials' list as I can't imagine being without it; I'm so used to having boiling water 'on tap'!...

football team for male au pair

Hi there, we have a lovely 19 year old male French au pair who wants to join an 11-a-side or 7-a-side football team in the Clapham area - he's very sporty and I think a reasonable player. I have no idea about how football teams, training etc work, or what there is locally. Can anyone help by pointin...

Re: Home alarm recommendations please - had enough of ADT!

I would highly recommend Sheba Alarms. They are Streatham based but come to is in Clapham and previously when we used to live in Camberwell. We've had their alarms and service contract for over 15 years now. Their prices are very reasonable, Dennis and his colleague (whose name escapes me) are both ...

Recommendations needed for a solicitor to write a will

This year we vowed we would make a will - it's already June and we haven't done anything about it. First step: find a recommended local solicitor who can help us write one! I don't think we need anything particularly complicated, but we do need to cover guardianship of the children etc - I imagine t...

Re: Have you had your colours 'done'?

On the back of all your encouragement (thank you ladies!) I booked a group session with Helen White in Streatham Hill for later this month. She offers one-to-one sessions as well as in small groups (three or four max) and when I spoke to her on the phone she said the outcome is the same, in terms of...

Re: Have you had your colours 'done'?

Thanks for all your really helpful suggestions - at least I've narrowed it down to three! This afternoon I have some kid-free time so will look into all three properly. Did you all do one-to-one sessions or a half day class with others? Thanks again!
